Pam 292

Good Day All,

Does anyone know the current list price for a PAM 292? Do they still make it? How many a year?

Thanks for all your help,

Eric

Hi Eric. I've been doing some research on the 292 lately too. Some interesting things I found out was that the case is made out of ceramic but the bezel and buckle are of the less durable PVD. I'm not 100% sure this is accurate though but I was concerned about scratches with the less durable PVD technology.

The case back and buckle are PVD, it does scratch but so does everything else.
I am not sure about the bezel. I will try one on tomorrow.

Eric, you're correct, it's the case back, buckle and screws that are PVD. Though it's only really the screws that are the issue with scratching off the PVD coating. Good luck in your hunt...

Bezel is ceramic per Micah.

Thx mik. Interesting read. I think we can confirm the following:

Ceramic:
Case
Bezel

PVD:
Buckle
Screws
Strap wire loops
Case back and
Crown

I'm pretty sure the Crown is not PVD, but some other material. I recall reading the 292 crown shatters when struck sharply. I remember reading about some guy who had it happen twice. Let me see what I can find.

That is the tradeoff for scratchproofness (if that is a word). You can't have it all.

The ceramic is is brittle (can crack) as a results of being so hard (scratchproof).

Steel is soft by comparision (doesn't crack) but scratches easily.

to be fair, from reading the post, the poster dropped it 3 feet onto a tile floor....not something that would always result in problems, but, it's not 100% "shocking", either. maybe in an SS watch the case would be dented, or maybe the movement would get knocked around, or, maybe, nothing would happen.

I tried on the 292 today, one of the nicest looking watches I have ever put on but just not for me, so I passed on it.

I know, I like it. They seem to not be able to keep them on the shelf at my AD this one just came in and it will be out the door by the weekend.

Eric. I think it looks nice on you. But maybe it just takes some time getting used to black watches. They certainly look cool!

Mfer. Thanks for the tip on the crown. Looking at the pics then the material does look like ceramic. I'm wondering though if the crown cracks can also be due to over tightening.
