Anyone ever heard of this?

The "Grand Complication" I saw an add for it about 10 years ago in Robb Report. I think it cost like a quarter mil?

I don't remember exactly, but I know they have a watchmaker handpolish every single part, and regulate every wheel the exactly match the next... It takes 1 watchmaker about 9 months to complete the assembling of 1 of these watches! Pretty cool stuff!

From another site:

The more complications, the more valuable the watch. In December, 1999, Sotheby's sold a watch with 24 complications for $11 million. The watch that holds the record for the most complications is a pocket watch Patek Philippe created in honor of their 150th anniversary in 1989. It has 33 complications including the date of Easter and a celestial chart with 2,800 stars.

It's an incredible watch, and I like IWC, but what do you do with it? Even if I could afford it, I'd be too afraid wear it. Maybe put it in a bulletproof locked display case, hang it on the wall....

I think it's all relative to how much money you have in the bank sorta say. I mean some people on that forbes list could fork over 750K or even 11 million and wear it without even a second thought. There is only a limited number of these watches and are probably pre-sold or dealers know exactly who to call.

You're right Mike, it's relative to a person's wealth. Still, I would like to think that even the superwealthy wouldn't strap a watch like that on without appreciating it - actually, I'm sure they'd appreciate it, just differently than the rest of us. I'd spend the day worrying my shirtcuff was damaging it!

Different world, they live in.
