Sub in the sauna???
I've worn my Sub in the sauna a few times now, and while I know what a great watch it is, and it seems totally unaffected, I wonder if i in fact may be damaging the watch in the long term? i'm in there for about 7-10 minutes at a time, with temperatures between 180-220F. Just curious if anyone has had experience with this? thanks guys...

It could be possible that it would affect it considering there are oils inside the movement and possibly parts that could be fragile to excessive heat. Not sure if those numbers are enough to do it, but who knows. I am interested to see what other people say about this!

There is nothing to worry about considering that your watch will never heat up to 180-220 F as long as the watch touches your body.

Better keep that such expensive watch away from the heat or hot. Water resistance and the time keeping accuracy are the two things that might be affected from heat or hot.
Just my opinion. |

Sorry, but that is the ******* ******* [self-censorship] I have ever seen on TRF. (Unless your gym has security cameras in the locker rooms and armed guards patrolling.)
I have been wearing my Explorer II in the sauna about three times a week for over a year, no issues yet. |

For movement or nitrile gaskets, no pb... But the crystal gasket could suffer: what do technicians think about this particular point?

It seems the gyms I frequent are quite different than yours, I've seen more than one padlock cut. |

Not going to hurt it. I leave my watch in my locker at my country club 4-5x week. I don't worry about it. I have insurance.

There was a thread about this very thing a couple of weeks ago. My reply to that one still stands...
I was 300 miles above the arctic circle at new year... It got as cold as -30 at night and when I got back to the cabin I regularly dived straight into the pre-heated sauna wearing nothing but my Sub and a smile.

I wear my daily beater GMT 16700 to the gym to workout and in the sauna and jacuzzi afterwards. No issues at all and in fact the more I wear the watch the more accurate it is... Wheat was in a rotation every couple days it was running +2 sec/day. Now since I wear it everyday and everywhere it's running less than +1 sec a day.
No issues with moisture or anything so far so as long as your watch has been serviced properly recently you would be fine.

Your watch will withstand anything your body will withstand and then some. You have absolutely nothing to fear about wearing it in the sauna.

Someone posted a while back that if your skin can take the temperature, the watch can too. Makes sense to me.

I've searched this question before and the consensus is that as long as your watch is pressure tested and all seals are ok it's no problem to wear your watch in a sauna, jacuzzi...pretty much anywhere

I've been in the sauna quite a bit. There should be nothing to worry about.
Your numbers must be off though. Water boils at 212. You're NOT in the sauna at 180-220, you'd be dead. That being said, there was an ad posted on TRF Not too long ago showing Rolex testing a watch by placing it IN boiling water and it was fine. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?sbpfky Sent from my iPhone 4S using Tapatalk

Sauna temps are usually 106-110.

I thought there was something about steam and how it could potentially penetrate the seals even though water couldn't, which is why there are 99+ threads about 'can I wear my Rolex in the shower?' or such?

I've read lots of posts about watches stolen out of club lockers. It doesn't matter how high end your club is, it still happens. IMHO the safest place for your watch is on your wrist. The reason I have insurance is to wear it and enjoy it!
