Either way, those are pretty sweet sunglasses. I wear classic Ray Ban aviators all the time, been through more than a few pairs. It's not that I don't like other brands, its just that the Ray Bans fit my face the best and they go with everything.

The prescription RBs did not get the script until a few years ago. The new ones do have it, in fact they say "Ray Ban P". I assume the P is for prescription.

Nope, only the Polarized ones have Ray Ban P... P standing for Polarized obviously.

Non-polarized just have Ray Ban

Its a moot point Ray Ban only started putting their logo's on the lens in 1998. Before that year, BL was engraved in the lens.

Okay, makes sense, all the sunglasses I buy are prescription but also polarized.

You are on the right track! Marty's sunglasses were created by Porsche! They used the aviator design for the prop! I don't anticipate a remake as there are 1,000's of aviator sunglasses out there!

I wore Ray Bans during the Eighties, before I started wearing prescription glasses in the early Nineties.

I'm pretty certain that the Rolex logo started showing up while I was still wearing the old etched B-L model.

I was really furious about that, as I thought it cheapened the brand.

Bah looks like I got the date wrong.
The white logo on the lens was introduced in late 1982 and subsequently present on all Ray-Ban sunglasses from 1983 onward.
