Right, because trying not to tarnish someone else's rep is such a terrible thing...

Can you people just let this go already?

I have one that has a dent on the bezel... It's hardly noticeable however I have disclosed it in my add. The watch group of sellers is a small world. The asset that you have is your name. A name is not worth $xxx. Trust goes a long way

Ok, my final post on this matter....

This thread had a dual purpose. It's not intended to imply the seller was shady... The question is supposed to provide me the info because:
  1. If it's NOT considered "shady", and is common practice here to let pictures speak for themselves, then I know when I go to list the watch in the future, I can do the same and not be considered a "shady" seller, or

  2. If it IS considered "shady", then I know it was done unintentionally, and I should contact the seller to let him know about the mistake. That was done, and the case was solved.

I think this was a fair question for my information, although in retrospect, I could have worded it much better. But I'm a new member here, and asking questions about how things work should not be discouraged.... ON THE CONTRARY.

Now, having said all that... today is my birthday... if you guys could ease up a little, that would be awesome.

To mods, a lock on this baseless flame-fest would be the best gift ever.

Just don't bring the cake back to the baker 6 weeks from now saying there are a few pieces missing

As long as a seller offers a no question return period, I think small omissions are ok. Now something major that's left out of the sales post is just asking for trouble.

Honestly, a seller should disclosed every defect know to them with a watch they are selling and offer a short return policy if it is not as described. One of the well known sellers here let me have almost a week to check out the 100 hour power reserve on a watch I bought from him. During that time it stayed in the box to make sure I didn't ding it wearing it and after verifying the power reserve, I looked it over with a critical eye one last time before accepting it in its "as is" condition. Anything I discovered after that I believe would be on me.

Let's say, hypothetically, you bought a watch from a trusted seller here, found a flaw after five weeks and tried to bully the seller into "making good".

I'd bounce you out of the forums, hypothetically, of course.
Great response. 'Shady' can apply to buyers as well.

What if I told the floor that there were extenuating circumstances at play, and perhaps the OP deserves a break?

Well, it seems like I have nothing really to write in that thread but I would still like to wish you a happy birthday Steve! I hope you had fun!

I'll second the happy birthday

For what it's worth, I always put more time into looking at the pictures rather than reading the description...If I have any questions, I ask for additional pictures. With that being said, pictures can only show so much and anything newly found just adds to the character of the watch when going pre-owned.
