DSSD by far. It's screams quality and it's presence is undeniable! Don't get me wrong, I love the black face EXP II but it does not compare to me. I have tried on the EXPII and I own the DSSD.
I actually have been wearing my DSSD for the past 2 weeks and have really enjoyed this reference!

Tough choice. You can't go wrong with either one. I'd probably lean towards the DSSD.

I really want to like the DSSD but just can't get over how top heavy and unbalanced it feels on the wrist. Exp II for me.

Submariner? :-)

It is a tough choice, neither is perfect but of the two I'd go with DSSD.

Wow thanks guys for your insights! I am leaning towards the DSSD can someone tell me if there has been changes made to the dial since the V series? I cannot see anything of note but I have read there are two different dials. I could be mis-informed, or confused

There are two different dials: Mark I where there is no space on either side of the "=" sign on the dial and a Mark II dial where it looks like the modern Submariner dial. No big difference really, some people care, most don't.

Mark I dials were delivered on all M-series DSSDs as well as most V-series (up to V7xxx.. or V8xxx.. something at least)

At the end of the day, don't go on what other may or may not advice you. Both models are readily available at most any ADs. Go in there and try them out. Figure out if the height and top heaviness + all the text bothers you on the DSSD. Figure out if you find the dial of the Exp42 too big and the hands too stubby and fat. It may bother you. It may not. Only you can decide.

Best of luck!
