Any thoughts on these German bad boys?

I had a Sinn 756 UTC (dual time zone). Unfortunately, I only had it for a few months before it was stolen by some workers renovating our apartment. But, until then I really enjoyed the look of the watch -- they have nice big clean faces that are very easy to read. I don't know what they call the finish of the metal -- maybe a beadblast -- but I found it resistant to scratches (I scratch watches pretty quickly) and I really enjoyed the look of the finish, it was a nice change from the satin and polished SS of my Rolex. I will note that the case is very thick with almost no tapering from top to bottom, so it looks as thick as it is (some people didn't like that). I believe that they AR coat the inside and outside of the crystal (which is flat) and I've read complaints of the outside coating wearing away or getting scratched (which I don't believe can be avoided). I'm just not qualified to speak to the watch's technical attributes, though I understand that it uses a standard movement. If I hadn't recently received a GMT II, I would have certainly bought another Sinn (likely the exact same model).

Good movements.
The 656 is a rock solid time only tool.
Covering vary, your choice.
PLUS many chronographs based on the Valjoux 7550 movement, a proven performer for many manufacturers.
Rolex used the Valjoux movements in the Daytona, before Zenith and the current in house movement.
IWC still uses that movement in thier Chronographs.

Hi, I've a SINN U1. Which I really like the design, big dial and simple! It is 44mm diameter but surprisingly it fit very well on my 6.5" wrist (at least I dont' feel it's very big on my wrist :D) It has an anti-reflection glass and can read time easily under the light. The SS bracelet is very comfortable although it is 22mm. I have the rubber strap as well, but I seldom use it because it gets dusty very easily.. Mine is +1 everyday when i'm using it last few months!

I had a SINN 356 as well, acrylic glass, 39mm only (which it look and feel smaller then that, maybe it doesn't have the brezel like my other watches). I like to use it with my NATO strap as compare to the leather strap! It keep very accurate time as well, +2 if i remember correctly. I sold it 3 months back to a friend of my who like it very much like me too..

In my opinion, SINN produces quality watches (in term of form factor, the design and the accurancy of time keeping) and sell it at a very reasonable price. In term of market value (resell), Rolex is still much better then SINN... but then again, if you would like to get one for daily used, I will strongly recommend SINN :D

At the risk of alienating my Rolex buddies... I love mine.



Maybe it's just me but... this is my only chrono and I love it's simple, classic design. No busy bezel to clutter things up. The domed sapphire crystal eliminates reflections amazingly well and seems to make the primary hands just 'pop' making this watch VERY easy to read, even in low light and severe angles. This was a pleasant surprise, and a welcome one. Despite the busier than usual dial, this is the most legible watch I own.

Based on the Valjoux 7750, this watch runs well within COSC specs but... it does show more deviation than either of my Rolexes. It'll run seconds a day faster off the wrist than on. All things considered, it's plenty accurate. Unlike some other German makers, I've never read about any persistent or known quality issues. There have been some comments regarding the U quartz series but, amongst the entire line, the U-series watches also seem to generate the most excitement, loyalty and admiration. It may not command the recognition of a Rolex but it's a solid choice and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Jedi, The Hour Glass chain of ADs should have a good selection of Sinn watches.

First off, Sinn has one of the best Catalogs out there. It is actually a hard bound book! Not just watch information, but exploration stories as well.

For the money, Sinn makes a really good watch!

Their diving watches, with oil filled crystals, are some of the easiest to read and also have super high depth ratings.

Their Quartz powered Hydro is a real work horse.

I really LIKE Sinn!

Models like the U1 and U2 and 756 are ones I would buy, but currently I am contented with my two Rolex watches.

The U1 is the ultimate no-bling watch.
I enjoy wearing mine, and particularly appreciate the many engineering features designed into it.
With its large, plain face and high contrast hands, it's extraordinatily easy to see what time it is. Except in the dark - I find the lume disappointing.
I bought the watch new from the US AD, with both the bracelet and the rubber strap. Both are very nicely made, but the rubber is a dust magnet. A black DiModell Jumbo works best for me.
The U1 is a great watch, and for me a keeper.
