Why doesn't my desk show the scratches!

Seriously....Geez Louise. Anyone else wear left and write left?

Ahhh they are shallow. They'll buff right out someday.

Hi;

I wear my watch on my left wrist and write with my right hand, but for the most part it's a computer keyboard I use almost all the time - I hardly ever find myself actually having to write. So with lots of regular rolling-type contact with either my desk or the wrist-rest of the laptop, there is very quickly a fine patina of lots of tiny, tiny little scratches over the links in the bracelet. They're the kind you don't notice except in very direct, very bright light, but they're there nonetheless.

My Day-Date only just came back from a service a little over two weeks ago, and already the centre links have that fine patina building up on them. Such is the way of things where gold is concerned. And as you say, come service time they'll be polished out and the whole thing made to look good as new again - so you can scratch it all over again !

Scratches are unavoidable and should be worn with pride.

These two things are true.

Nothing stays new if used.

You can't really enjoy it if you don't use it.

The reason the desk and keyboard do not show scratches is twofold:

1. You don't care about your desk or keyboard.
2. Neither cost what your Rolex does - okay maybe the desk did in a few isolated cirumstances.

Battle scars give it character

Only way to avoid them is not to wear the watch-- so wear it and embrace the scratches!

Enjoy it and have them buffed/polished out at the service interval or have your jewelery shop polish every now and again!

I'm thinking I need one of those expensive leather desk pads now. Don't see how I can live without it.

I have one of those but it doesn't have the nice padded sides. My wrist still keeps banging around on the desk.

The only real solution is to put it on a NATO

I keep asking myself if it is even safe to be wearing it while sitting at my desk.

I saw a thread earlier where someone mentioned jumping out of planes, battling drug lords, serving on the field of battle and all sorts of dangerous activities while wearing his trusty Rolex. Makes me chuckle now when I catch myself looking at a few light swirls I got from managing my balance sheet. B--O--R--I--N--G.

At work I had a large paper calendar the covered most of my desk.

At home I use three mouse pads. No scratches, simple solution.

For me, my wrists rarely touch the desk when I type. I initially consciously made the effort, but since a few years, I do it automatically without thinking now.
