I have the choice between a SS/Platinum Yachtmaster or the new GMT II
What would you buy between the two?

I think the GMT function makes the GMT-II the better watch, but I have always been partial to the look of the SS/PL YM, and I came close to buying one.

I voted for the new GMT-II.

Depends on what you want the watch for.

The new GMT has a number of greta new developments; new Parachrom Bleu hairspring, 10X more shock resistant than the old hairspring and very anti-magnetic. Owners here report a big increase in accuracy. Also, you have a Daytona style clasp with extention, the ceramic bezel insert (people either like it or don't, not much middle ground) and the anti-reflective treatment of the cyclops.

With the GMT you also get the additional functionality of a second time zone, I find this to be very useful.

I said the GMT. It has the greater functionality. I do like the plat. YM though.

I would choose the GMT IIc

It's such a cool watch, and you get that extra bit of "complication" with the GMT hand.

When my second white Daytona arrived,I had a look at the plat/ss YM at the AD.The thought did cross my mind to get the YM ... Could get it for a great price too ...

If you like white metals,IMO,the plat/ss YM is absolutely superb !!!

I'm a fan of the tool watches.

Now if I owned a yacht, I'd probably go the other way--although come to think of it if that were the case then I'd already have a YM so I'd vote for the GMT for variety.

I was a contrarian and voted for the SS/Platinum YM. I just like the looks of the bexel and the bead blasted platinum face. I like the old GMT just fine, but I haven't warmed up to the ceramic bezel version yet. When/if I get a Red Sub, SS Daytona, SS GMT Pepsi with Jubilee, TT ToG, SS/P YM, and a YG DD, THEN, I'll consider a GMT II-c. I got quite a few more watches to acquire before I look too hard at the GMT-IIc!

i love them both !!

GMT master 2 is a new watch with a great function in it and a nice ceramic bezel.. but on the other hand the yacht master is also amazing and if u like good solid raw materials PLT is always good !!

i think id go with the yachmaster SS/PLT

GMT due to its functionality. What is your line of work and can you apply the use of the watch towards your work? That would be a question to ask yourself. Good luck on your decision.

I think the SS/Plat YM looks so nice with the red second hand and lettering on the platinum dial.

The new GMT is also very unique right now, but may be less so if the Sub and Exp get the supercase, ceramic bezel, maxi dial, new clasp, upgraded movement, etc...

I really dont like the new bezel on the GMT but the yachtmaster catches me even less... so id go with the GMT (also because its more functional).
