There's lots and lots of clues to why a Rolex might be fake. Dial, movement, case shape, bracelet, clasp etc.
If you know it's real, that's also a good way of knowing it isn't a fake |

You can study some of the sign in the "Watch Out" section here on TRF.
But I would buy the book "The Rolex Report" by John E. Brozek if I were you. In that book you get many good signs of fakes. I myself have quite a few articles on how to spot fakes after having been studying them for quite a few years. Sometimes I provide a link if it is relevant (discussion about a specific fake), but I won't just post X numbers of links here now.
