What's going on with this Panerai?

First thing that jumps out is that there shouldn't be a Tachy bezel on this model. The Crown shield doesn't look right either. Hands are wrong, and the color of the date wheel is off.

I believe the case should be high polished, with a high polish bezel, not brushed.

That's at first glance.

It's sad that someone is prepared to spend $1500+ of their hard earned money (at current bidding) on a totally horrible fake. You'd think someone with that kind of money to spend on an ebay watch would take the simple step of doing a Google image search of the watch model they're trying to buy. Or, you know, notice the dial has no tachymetre hand.

I wish I knew enough about Cartier to say whether the seller's other watch for sale is also a phoney.

It could be the photo quality, but the dial looks like the markers are gilt and black, on an original dial I think there should be all black markers. There's also significantly more than "minimal wear", and I wouldn't consider it "excellent" condition by any means.

Looking at sales history, this seller hasn't sold anything since DEC 2008, and items prior were all small things under $400.

Personally, wouldn't risk it. That said, the Panerai has been pulled.

This is not a Panerai dial whatsoever. Never seen hands on a Panerai like that, no magnification on the date, tachy scale on a non-chrono... I could go on and on. This is a very obvious fake.

The hands seem really small and the finish doesn't seem to be brushed...it seems to be some type of a satin finish. I do not think that Panerai has a satin finished watch.
