How much is 1 year's extra warranty worth to you?
So I've zero'd in on a RO 26300 and visited my local and only AD in my neck of the woods. Surprisingly they had one in stock and so I tried it on and fell in love.
When negotiating the price we didn't quite reach the level I was targeting. However, the sales rep offered to throw in an extra 1 year's warranty = 4 years warranty. Actually, he tried tricking me into thinking it was 2 years additional warranty, after which I brought to his attention the 3-year sticker concept. In any event, what do you think additional 1 year's warranty is worth? Sure, there is peace of mind, but unless something highly unexpected happens is it really worth much? I'm thinking a normal service should fix most normal issues and the cost of service could perhaps be somewhat compared to the extra 1 year warranty? What do you think?

I don't think it's really worth it...if something doesn't go wrong in 3 years, not sure why it would go wrong in the 4th. Peace of mind, yeah, I guess.
I'd work on the price. If you guys are off by a reasonable amount, I'm sure they will come to terms with you vs. letting it sit in inventory. |

Doubt AP will extend the manufacturer's, so he's probably talking AD in-house warranty and repair? The third-year AP warranty, is IIRC, only for water resistance, not other issues.
I'd probably pass and keep pushing for an additional discount. Good luck!

I wasn't aware that the 3rd year extended warranty only applied to WR. Sure, one is required to bring it in for WR control, but thought this was part of doing a quick check of general functions. Guess the extended warranty should be called extended WR warranty then. If this is the case, then it is indeed extra 2 years full warranty the sales guy is offering me. I guess that's worth noting. The AD is generally very stingy on discounts but occasionally leverage extra warranty or free 1st service on Rolex, instead. I'm sure it is in-house warranty. They have their own sizable service center with about 5 watch makers. Btw, the RO I am thinking of buying is new but has been unwrapped and tried on by other customers. In fact I noticed a bit of dirt on the case when I tried it on myself. Is this something you pay attention to when negotiating... or is this just how things are given the relative scarcity of APs? I mean when buying new Rolexes they have always been BNIB with protective stickers on and what not.

If we are talking about a full 4 years warranty i'd say it's a pretty nice deal.
See it as a free of charge service as AP recommends 4-6 years intervals.

I don't think they are offering a free of charge service, but rather will honor warranty for 4 years. Of course if the watch starts losing precision within the 4 years or starts showing any other issues, I guess they would need to carry out some sort of service when opening it up? Whether that conflicts with the AP recommended service intervals, I don't know. In fact my AD told me that the recommended intervals are 3-5 years

Hi Chris,
I would confirm with the AD whether it is an additional year of AP warranty or in-house warranty, as I probably wouldn't want to have my AP opened up by the AD unless they are certified. Also, the 3rd year warranty offered by AP is a full warranty for the 3rd year, but to be eligible you need to send your watch in for WR testing before the 2 year warranty ends to have it extended for the third year. Cheers, James |

I am pretty certain we are talking in house warranty. The AD is certified for some AP models, but not all. So luckily they are not complete AP rookies So if indeed the 3rd year warranty by AP is full warranty, then I guess we are back to the AD offering 1 year extra Can anyone settle this once and for all? Is it an extra years full warranty or just WR warranty?

I stand corrected on the 3rd year warranty...
Here's the link to the AP website with info. http://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/ser...age=warranties

The 3rd year warranty is the same as 1-2 and covers manufacture defects. The 4th year is in-house and worthless in my mind as I refuse to let anyone but APSC work on my APs.
