my preference would be to leave it on...but if you set off the metal detectors these days it is such a PITA. i'll try wearing it next time and see if it sets it off. thanks for all the replies :-)

My YM hasn't set off the alarm yet. I travel quite a bit - at least 2 flights every week so its been through scanners at several US airports w/o any issues.

Never take that thing off. Ive never had it set off a scanner, and I travel extensively. Never put in checked baggage. Ive lost valuables in foreign countries. If you think, so called security people handling "Checked" bags are all honest......you'd be Wrong!

If they make me take it off it goes on the bowl. Almost forgot it once! Yikes!

BUT.... if you wear it, and it is a huge chunk of metal that may set the alarm off, do this:

Wear it, carry your boarding pass IN THE SAME HAND as the Rolex. As you walk through, hold your hand OUT with the boarding pass in it for the agent, so your Rolex goes through the metal detector ALONE. Now keep walking and YOU go through.

There....now it does not county against YOU for total metal.

If you think that is cool, get a security clearance for some real cool info! :-)
