Hi Andy,
Great watch. The other good news for you is that you only have to pop down to Southport (forty miles from Manchester) and Mike Wood who knows all about these Comex will be able to take a look at it in detail. |

You might want to call your insurance company and get an appraisal performed on it.

Thanks to everyone! Its been great reading everyones opinions and its made me so happy to know that its something pretty unique, rare and it all adds to its personal value to me. Whos bothered about the monetry value when ive got something that i can wear and be really proud of? As for the pub crawl, ill just put a casio on and leave the comex at home i think.
Ill keep the forum up to date with what i do. Thanks again youve all been super helpful |

Congratulations Andy.
That is a true tool watch with such a marvellous pedigree and sentimental value. Regards Tony

Speaking as one who recently inherited a vintage Rolex (opening my eyes to a new world, through this forum mainly) your enjoyment of the watch will grow as your knowledge of its history as an icon increases. It pays to take your time researching everything about it, and how and where to have it serviced. Mine is with Bob Ridley at the moment and I look forward to the day I can slip it over my hand and snap it on. During the brief time I had with it before sending it off for service, I couldn't quit looking at it! One other thing: this forum has kindled a desire in me to acquire other vintage pieces at the expense of my bicycle collection! So beware! And big congrats!!

great watch, be extremely careful who you let work on it, you do not want a polish for example.

Nice watch!
Do not send your watch overseas for a service as some members recommended.

Can UK members ship their watch to Bob Ridley without worrying about U.S. Customs?
My advice is to get in touch with Mike Wood (or another UK collector) as already mentioned so that he may be able to direct you to a reputable maker worthy enough to perform the basic of basic movement service and pressure check. Congratulations on a great piece! |
