16520 w serial correct dial?

It's been a while since I've last signed in here and I've really missed you guys. My love for watches is stronger than ever but my pockets aren't as deep anymore. :P

I have a gorgeous 16520 w serial daytona that has a replaced dial. The watch was originaly white and has been changed to black. I am looking an original matching dial for the watch. Either black or white (does it hurt the value). The current dial says swiss made whereas im sure it should say t for tritium or something.

What do you guys think, should I keep the dial or buy a white correct dial (which makes the watch like it was originaly) or put a correct black dial which I think looks better.

Sorry if this is getting confusing. My question is: Does it matter if I put a white or black dial, as long as it's correct? Also, is this a correct dial? If not, what would be correct dial for a W3xxxxx (1994 I think) Daytona 1650?

I have much the same issue. I bought a white dial daytona with a service dial. A year later the original owner found the box/papers stating that the watch was originally "born" with a black dial. I found a service(luminova) black dial to hold me over until I run across a tritium black dial.

In my case the value takes a hit because the paperwork shows what dial was original to the watch. So I am stuck with buying a black dial. If you do not have paperwork. Imho you buy whatever tritium dial you like as no paperwork exists stating what was original to the watch

Correct dial for a W series would have T SWISS MADE T at the bottom, which indicates that it has tritium in the minute markers. Your SWISS MADE dial has luminova minute markers. Do either your dial or hands glow in the dark after they've been exposed to light?

Lucky for you, you'd need the MK IV dial configuration, which are the most abundant and readily available (and consequently, the cheapest as compared to a MKI "floating" or a MKII "four liner" or a MKIII "inverted 6"). It's easy to distinguish, as there is no inverted 6 in the lowest subdial and will have tritium markers instead of luminova.

Contact Philippe at exoticwatches.net. I see he has a Mark III dial in stock. He can probably get you a Mark IV dial. I've dealt with him before. His office is in Madrid, but he travels quite a bit. He's a solid guy that can get some pretty rare stuff. Good luck.

Thanks, I contacted him and he just replied. I called him and talked to him on the phone. He seems like he's a great guy.

He offered my an "inverted 6 white trtium" dial for 1200 euros. Isn't that a little steep? And is the "inverted 6" dial correct for my watch?

Guys please help, I'm pulling the trigger today and I'm leaning towards the MK IV, would anyone advise me otherwise? Should I pay up the extra 600 euros and get the MK III.

Has any of your research indicated a W serial 16520 ever came with a MKIII dial? If not, get the MKIV.

with a W case you should put a mk5 or mk 6 dial ( both have the "standard 6" )

these dials are consistent from around S 500/600.000 up to A series ( end of 16520 with tritium dials ).

Grazie Signore! This was ages ago but I came back since I am intending to buy a dial now and thank you for saving me from buying the wrong dial.

Found this on ebay and these with Phillipe, can anyone identify if any of them are MK5 (correct dial for my 16520 W serial)?

Senior Pisani (or any other expert), can you confirm if this is a Mark V or Mark VI dial please?
