$4,100 when spending that kind of cash, is not a big enough difference for me. I'd prefer something brand new and with my name on the papers and the full warranty. I recently spent 2k extra for a new Daytona for the exact same reason. Granted, I'm selling the Daytona, but you indicate that you plan to keep it.

Some more information would help:
- Is it the same dial? Certain WG Daytona dials are more desirable than others. - Is it the same serial letter? The clasp was upgraded starting with the v series. - Is the condition of the bezel on both watches the same? New WG Daytona serial appears to have a different method of how the tachonometer is engraved...appears to be an improvement. Also, you can't polish a poor condition bezel and it can only be replaced as there is no cheap or effective method to re-enamel it. - Is the I'm protective sticker on the new WG Daytona? - Is the condition of both bracelet the same? I've seen old stock WG Daytona in the displayed of AD that was mishandled by customers and there are more scuffs and hairline scratches than than my used watch

I almost always buy new.
I like getting a watch minty fresh knowing I'm the first owner. Also having my name on warranty card / papers is a plus because when they go to my kids one day I think they will like seeing their dads name there. |

Might have to changed my vote in this case b/c adding a couple of $K to $4k and you have yourself another SS watch. You're going to have to wear that puppy for another 4-5 years to break even at $4k is my gut feeling.

I'd go new, and you can put the wear and sentimental touches (scratches) on the timepiece. In a few years, the extra $ won't mean much, IMHO

I really have not decided what I will do yet. The poll isn't helping much unfortunately. I wouldn't mind saving $4200, but the repair work worries me, and I am worried there will be dust, etc., on the dial. In order to see the used watch in person I will have to tell the dealer I am holding off on purchasing their watch, since I can't see the used one until later in the week.
It also worries me that the used watch was put up for sale right when it came back from the repair service (literally that day!). That seems odd to me. I guess no one else can figure out for me if the $4200 is worth my peace of mind...LOL! |

Used.
If the used piece is in excellent condition I'd go used. After all, it's 11% less than the new.

I think I may call the dealer on Monday, explain the situation, and see if he will come down anymore in price, perhaps to a $3000 difference in price. I can stomach that difference more easily...
I'm not sure why $3000 seems like a small amount and $4000 seems huge to me. It is a 33.33% increase between the two savings amounts I guess.... |

If they are the same or close enough Serials Like M and V or V and Random... and not like a D and Random then Used is what I'll get
$4k in savings is almost a SS Sub and not to mention after you take those stickers off and wear the watch for a week here goes $4k from the value

New.
I would go used if it wasn't for repair. But regardless, 28% off from AD is too good to pass up even the reputable sellers here can't offer that anymore. |
