I just purchased a fully loaded Maxima last night and it came with Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires from the factory. I want to change to the Michelin Primacy MXM4 for all four tires. Should I go to the Nissan dealership or a local tire store? Would that void any part of the Nissan warranty beside the tire warranty?

And most importantly... what am I to do with these Goodyear tires that are still new? Do dealerships or stores take them in on trade in

I did check out tirerack.com and they were great prices $570 for 4. Problem is.. if they ship to me what am I supposed to do with 4 tires. No idea how to install, and what to do with my current new Goodyears lol

tire rack should have a local place that can install them for you. why don't you wait for the first set to wear out before you replace them?

Tire rack works with local dealers to assure fair pricing for installation. You can often buy from Tire Rack and have them delivered to your installation location.
I suggest you sell the original tires as a set on Craigslist. There's always someone who needs a safe set of tires and could use a break on price.
FWIW, mounting, balancing etc. usually costs $15-20 per tire. Figure that cost in with your expected expense and the expense of the used tires for the new owner.

Yes, Tire Rack works with local shops for install. They list the nearest one to your zip code. You should have no problems selling your current tires on a Maxima Message Board or Craig's List.

Take a print out of Tire Racks price and show Discount Tire, they will match, that's the best way. Oh, they don't need to know the shipping charges, I left that part out. I saved over 100.00 and got free rotation and balance for life time of owning the tire's since I bought from Discount.

I've checked TireRack and don't see what the fuss is about. By the time I paid the shipping I was able to buy them cheaper locally. Plus, a local place will offer free rotating every 5000 miles usually. I'd either sell your tires with an ad in the paper, or use them until they wear out.

That's been my experience as well. Tire Rack is very good at what they do but I've found I can do about as good locally. Where Tire Rack can save you $ is if you are buying tires and wheels together. They will mount & balance them for an extremely competitive price that will be hard to beat. I've bought snow tires on a few occasions mounted to steel rims, as an example.

I agree, so nice to see others supporting local business as well, they are usually competitive. If they are a few bucks more I justify it by keeping the little guy in business, but usually apples to apples they are right where the big boxes are.

I saved about $300 by buying my 265/75-16 BFG TA/KO at tire rack over the local chain store and got the specific version of the tire (S) I wanted over the one available at their store (Q).
Even though I had to pay for shipping, in this instance it was still cheaper than buying from Discount Tire with their free shipping.

I liked the new Goodyear Eagle GT's, light years ahead of the disposable ones of old. I wouldn't buy RS-A's at half price after experiencing them on other folks' cars. I loves the Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons, but ended up selling the car (dang).

I had someone convince me to try the Continental DWS all season tires. Couldn't be happier! Quiet, maximizes my BMW 335i's handling ability as well as the Michelin set, and they are even economical. They simply do not care if the road is wet, either. Sold!

Check out Dunn Tire if you have them around you. They have a good selection and the warranty is great. Any road damage or anything is only $20 to replace the tire. Also free rotation and if you buy snow tires (NC doubtful) they swap for free if you buy from them.

I save about $120 a year in just swapping tires and have already replaced 2 tires from nails in the road etc.

Been raining both days since I got the car, and I was a little annoyed with how the tires handles in the wet roads. Didn't feel like I had road grip. Today is a sunny Sunday here I will see how the tires go in normal dry roads, which are the norm here in NC.

Check to ensure the tire pressures are correct - improperly inflated tires can (significantly) impact a tire's handling, especially in the wet.

Check tirerack. Then check eBay. You can sometimes find 'take-off' tires on eBay pretty cheap. If the tire you are looking for come factory with a model the dealerships sometimes put different rims on the vehicle and have the factory tires for sale known as take off tires. I got 4 tires for my girls Wrangler for $240 less than I could have on tirerack.

Town Fair Tire also sells take offs. Good deals can be had if they have what you're looking for.
