Traveling with your collection?
I am pursuing my second nice watch and it has got me wondering about traveling with two nice watches, do you guys simply use/trust the room safe with the pieces that are not worn that day or () bring only one when traveling?

Wear one and only one. Your life will be simpler and less stressful. I travel all over Europe and I only wear one Rolex. I leave my other pieces at home

I agree, take the one that best suits the trip and be happy with it. You will not enjoy your trip because whenever you aren't in the room you will be worrying that someone is taking your baby

Get insurance that covers you for travel and make sure you can have one or two in your carry on and be covered. If you have a crazy collection like some on here then don't take everything. Just enough for variety.
Travel carefree knowing in the unlikely event something happens you're covered. Check on your watch regularly. I would check after security, as I get on the plane (that way you know that you didn't leave it in the departing airport. Then check on it when you land before you disembark. Then finally check on it before you leave the secure area of the airport. I'd check before getting out of the taxi too. Your checking method shouldn't involve taking it out of the bag. There should be some way to look or feel around inside your bag that way you don't take it out to check on it and end up leaving it somewhere. Then again I only travel once or twice a year. If you travel more that may become too much checking for you. |

I believe in travelling light.....just take one watch......maybe 2, if the 2nd is a G-shock.

I agree. Just travel with the one that best suits the trip you are going to. If you want variety, you can just bring some extra straps with you

Take one while traveling. Then you don't have to worry about it. I almost always travel with a SS model.

Have to agree just cannot see any point in taking multiple watches on holiday unless one is say a tool watch and say used specially for diving.

One ss or my Casio pro trek unless I go to Vegas. Chances are the ss would be my citizen. I wore my Rolex to St Louis and my cab driver told me to keep my watch covered outside the hotel. There is no need for that stress.

I would think 1 watch will be enough, regardless of where ya travel. Juz bring the one that'll be used more often, ie. Conferences and meeting = Rolex? Diving and trekking = G-shock or dive com.

I always take multiple watches as I like to change. I use the room safe and have never had a problem and my watches are insured

I always take a few watches with me (usually 3 or 4) but only take new pieces that can be easily replaced with insurance rather than vintage "hard to finds".....
Recently, probably because of reading too many posts like these , I have tended to keep my watches in the main safe custody room most hotels have near to reception rather than the in-room safe. But I've never had a problem and believe life is too short to worry about such things. If you get pleasure from wearing a variety of watches on your trips then take them with you. If you're not that bothered or would worry, then leave them at home. Simples |

I once took two. Bad idea, one was locked in the hotel safe, that can't really be trusted. You'll only worry.
I don't think much of my watch when on vacation anyway.

I usually travel with one Rolex (GMT II usually, for the timezone functions) and then also bring along a G Shock to use when needed.

Have been using my GMTII for travel (course I only have one Rolex ), however, I have been thinking of a dive watch and would take it along if I'm going on a dive.

This is a great topic as I've always wondered what everyone does. I was on a trip recently and a friend brought a YG Daytona and PP 5960! I would be way too nervous travelling with those pieces!
As for me, I'm with the majority .. I bring my a Rolex and a Timex. |
