And another gilt dial on a 5513 raising concerns
Another post on ebay where I am not sure about the dial:
http://www.ebay.ch/itm/281028741118?...#ht_818wt_1344 What concerns me here is the shape of the crown, the positioning of SWISS and the fact that the minute markers do not touch the rehaut, but are more inside the dial. Any opinions on this one? |

Watch looks good to me (despite poor quality pics).
Again would need shots between the lugs. It is important to check the engravings and if the font matches on both sides of the case. The dial is not original to the 1963 model, but still gilt. Here is another example: http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/rol...num=0&tab=pics |

I asked for shots between the lugs, no reply yet.
In the example you put on the link it is the exact same dial and the watch offered there also from 1963. Why you think it is from another period model? And from which model? |

The link Greg posted shows a watch from Ben, but the one in question here is from Germany. Same dial though. Ben is on VRF.

Good question! The Rolex 5513 gilt production years range from 1962 to 1966-67. The very first 5513 models came with a chapter ring dial. I checked 1963 5513 subs and apparently they did already came without a chapter ring. My mistake... The Swiss only models from 1963 had at least three variations: 1) no underline, 2) the "upper-underline" (small line under the Oyster Perpetual mark) and 3) the under-underline (small line under the Submariner mark). Hope it answers your question |
