Possible fake??
Hi all,
I recently purchased a Rolex OysterQuartz, Presidential, circa 1980 from a jeweler. He claims that it is authentic. It is not self-winding but rather a quartz and therefore, battery operated. Has anyone ever seen such a watch? Most replicas have replicated the self-winding movement... Beancountertx |

Welcome. Yes, Rolex made an Oyster Quartz Movement watch. In fact, Rolex was a major player in the development of the standards for quartz movements in the sixties and seventies.
If you could provide some photos of the watch in question, that would assist us in providing you with some definitive information.

It looked good at first but it turned out to have a honking big scratch on the dial just below and to the left of the coronet, and a very poor bracelet repair job. Sent it back. Too bad, that version was exactly what I wanted and am still looking for.

Yeah I see it now, I thought it was a piece of dust in the picture. What a shame.
