Great choice. You got one of the last....brand new too and in your name. I wonder if the 3186 is in that case?

I really appreciate all the warm comments throughout this thread. Thanks.

I tried a test I read about; one full rotation of the crown resulted in 8 jumps by the hour hand instead of 5. This means, according to the test, that the movement is indeed the 3186.

Now that I had this watch for a couple of days, I'm continually amazed at how crisp and crystal clear the dial is at various everyday lighting conditions. Perfect for a slightly aging eyesight.

What a find, and at a great price too. I'm guessing that is a random serial #? For some reason on those the black border around the round indices is thinner than on the rectangular indices and than on the round indices of the earlier versions. Makes it a little extra special. And would help confirm the presence of a 3186 since I do believe it was introduced prior to the random serials.

The serial number starts with a V and the rest are only numbers, so I guess it's not a random SN production. I did confirm it has a 3186 movement as I mentioned earlier today.

Your observation re indices does seem to apply to mine, though it could be only optical illusion (curved vs. straight borders).
