Submariner 16610

A mate of mine purchased a 2003 16610 a while ago from another aussie on that auction site. Finally got to catch up with him and check the watch out. No papers, box etc looks dinkum.

He thinks it is a fake. It has the etching, to the best of my knowledge the dial etc looks fine.

He has had the back off at a jeweller and apparently on the inside of the back cover it didnt say Geneva etc, but the movement was right so he said.

Would someone be able to tell me if the following bracelet numbers are correct for this submariner and what should be on the inside of the back cover please.

Endlinks - 93253

Clasp - 6248-19 M12

Thanks
Phil

All of the above doesn't mean a thing until we see some pics. Today's fakes are mind-blowingly good....very, very good.

Some pics will help us determine the facts.

Cheers - JJ

I do not purport to be an expert but the number that should be on that clasp would be 93250 denoting the strap for that model.... the number 93253 is for a TT gold and SS bracelet. The last time I saw a bezel with the pearl missing that looked like that bezel was a co-worker with a fake. I'm afraid the evidence as you have described with the inside case back smells very faux!
P.S. The clasp code (M) is for a 1988!

Yes, that is a fake.

Dial font is all wrong, and end pieces don't look that way on the underside.

Font on the bezel is wrong, too.

Bezel pearl is missing or was never there. Anyway, looks wrong, too.

I reported it since it belongs in the WatchOut section just if you wonder why it's being moved soon.

Yep, the fake has now been moved to the appropriate section. Should have been there in the first place.

I would be interested in how much you friend paid for the watch.

$100 or $3500-4000. Either way he has been shafted or knowingly bought a stinker.

Sorry to hear that, but it's as fake as a wooden nickle. try to recoup the money if possible.
