Recomendations for Rolex Submariner OverHaul

Good day all,
I have a Rolex Submariner U-Serial Number the watch is generally in really nice shape and runs well though it is do for service. I believe it has never been serviced before. I am going with a full overhaul. The most important thing to me is that the watch is polished and cleaned so that it looks like new. I was thinking of sending it to the Rolex Service center in NY, but am leaning on sending it to qualitytyme.net as I spoke with the owner and the website is impressive. Has anyone used Qualitytyme? Comments? Does anyone have any others that they recomend? I am not selling the watch anytime soon and again I want someone that really does a fine job with the polishing and cleaning as it seems like most overhauls do the same work eternally and all I looked at use geniune Rolex parts. Also any prices and costs would be helpful. Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with Brozek and his crew at Qualitytyme.net..

However, it sounds like you are shopping price. At Rolex they use fixtures so the refinish on the case and bracelet is tightly controlled to the exact contour as it originally came with.. You also have a new Rolex 2 year warranty and they always replace certain "expendibles" for the service charge..

If your watch has never been serviced before, I would go for the Rolex service to know that all the watch is 100%, then go for the basic clean, oil and adjust service the next time you need it..

Rolex will only polish your watch with a full service.

You get what you pay for in watch service. I'd look at Rik D right here on the forum...

Tools,
I am not really shopping price. I am asking if it is really worth it to go with Rolex? I was inquiring about the cost of Rolex as they are on vacation until the 7th. Quicktyme.net I believe starts around $365.00? What do you think I will be into Rolex for by the time they are through? It is my first Rolex and I want it to be like new as I cannot afford a new one, but want to make sure its worth it.

I am new to the forum so who is Rik D and how do I contact him? Thanks Gents!

It is amazing how good your watch looks after the RSC gets done with it. They looked like new watches. The RSC found a couple of issues and replaced the parts with the correct parts in one of my watches. They give you a list of what should be done and what they recommend be done.

ok so i can look at what they recommend and just take the polish if I want? as long as the watch is running fine I am good with that i just want a polish to make it look new.

also how often can a watch be polished, what are the drawbacks of polishing?

Please do your own search. From sending my Submariner back to Rolex for servicing in the past, THEY WILL NOT DO A POLISH UNLESS YOU PAY FOR A FULL SERVICE AT A MINIMUM.

I personally have not had my Sub polished in the two times I've sent my Sub in for service throughout the years. I like the look of a unpolished Rolex.

Unless you have a certified master watchmaker locally, then IMHO - RSC.

I say master watchmaker since you want a full overhaul - because I know they do not all do the same quality of work internally.

RSC especially if the external appearance of your watch seems to be VERY important to you.

That may apply in the US, but Rolex Canada most certainly will polish a watch. $225 includes de-case the movement, refinsh the case and bracelet, recase with new seals and gaskets, verify timing.
