vintage sub mariner dials

I may get shot for asking this question,
Where a vintage sub mariner has had service dial and hands replacement at some time in it is long life, these now fresh looking watches which may have been polished are penalised heavily in terms of value because the appearance of them does not represent the year they were manufactured.
A lot of comments have been made about certain things like bracelet, bezel, glass replacement as being acceptable albeit not totally original, but service replacement dials and hands are deemed as shock horror shouldn't have done that or more scathing comments.

Is there a market for modern vintages?

Yes there is, but the value is less than a true original.

The market is what you are happy with. If you want your Vintage sub glowing with luminova service dial and hands - go nuts and where it with pride

Just don't pay never (cough) polished, naturally patina'ed, original superdome prices for it nor try to charge for it after the fact.

I like mine that was fully serviced polish dial replaced bezel band etc...
It feels great and is bullet proof! I am not scared to go surfing or what ever.
I would not have do the service to myself but that did not stop me from buying it.
I got a much better price. Who knows what 50 years does to the value but it is not my concern. I love to wear it!

a 1969 Barracuda with a redone interior is still a desirable car, but for a VERY small fraction of a fully original car. Same applies to watches.
