newbie

I know this question is probably already been answered a million times. So I do apologize in advance.

How can I verify whether a serial number is authentic?

Thanks,

Welcome, I would suggest a visit to your AD with a note of the serial number, they should be able to authenticate it.

Hello and welcome to this merry-go-round. Well, questions like yours always ask for a counter question: where did you buy the watch? I guess not from an AD.

Bring it to a service center.

Thats an interesting question....I bought my Roller from an AD in Hong Kong and my name is on the certificate - but is this information held in a global databaes at Rolex ?......so (presuming the serial number isn't duplicated on a copy watch) then the history can be verified ?...

I guess an AD can tell you that a seriel number should match a specific model.....

I did not buy the watch. I am simply trying to authenticate it before I buy it. I guess I will call an AD in my town and see if that helps.

Thanks

The serial number is printed between the lugs. You can date the serial number to an approximate year, which should assist in identifying whether the watch was around at that time.
However, in authenticating a watch, there are many more things to consider than just the serial number.
