Looking for an everyday pen that's good for the new collector. Thx

There is no one right pen or choice...so your best bet is to go to a pen store and check out all the different brands. Three of the main types of better quality pens are Fountain pens, Rollerball pens and Ballpoint pens. If you need a pen that is great for signing documents or multiple copied forms you should go with a Ballpoint or Rollerball pen. I happen to prefer Fountain pens using bottled ink and carry and use two everyday but then I am not signing documents. As for the best brand...you could ask ten different people and get 10 different answers.......

As Leo mentioned, it would be difficult to suggest the right pen for you... it really depends on what you need it for or what you want to use it for.

Myself, I do a LOT of signing... so it's more practical for me to have a Rollerball (Montblanc) and a Ballpoint (Dunhill) pen.
I don't have a Fountain pen... yet, but I would like to have one to add to my small collection.

I think for every day use I would go for a ballpoint. I find it will write on more surfaces (such as tape) than a rollerball. I have several rollerballs and if I know I will only be writing on paper I will use one. I think the RB is the writing experience between the BP and the FP

To me, it is nice having a pencil (I can make notes on documents I can later erase) and a ballpoint. I concur with Leo, I do enjoy fountain pens with bottle ink. I have just recently pruchased a MB 147 Traveler and I am learning the joy of cartridges.
