Steel- Sorry...But after that post about being followed at Wal-mart and your paranoia there, yeah, I'd say you have issues. Keep one SD and try to deal with that. Anymore might make you have an emotional melt-down.

Why buy another SD? I can't see the logic in having 2 identical watches. Instead, look at a different Sport model, like a YM Plat SS. Now that is a beautiful watch...

Life is short so why be practical!
I have a SD and love it. In the past year I have bought, sold and traded out six sport models and have never considered letting go of my SD. My current inventory consists of a TT Black Sub, my SD, a Corum Admirals Cup and a new Omega Seamaster Pro Co-Axial which I can live without! Bottom line, Moses had a great idea...two of everything! Best of luck. |

I'd get a used but mint black Explorer 2 for now and if and when a new SD comes out and you like it you can sell the Explorer 2 at minimal or no loss and get the new SD. By that time you may have saved enough money to buy the new SD without having to sell the Explorer 2.

you know I appreciate all your suggestions but there is one thing I know about me and that is that I am a steel man who only loves the sports series .. the bigger the bulkier, the more I am attracted to the watch and in our rollies, that boils down to the subs .... I just want the biggest bang for my buck and the SD is it i think .... I can't imagine spending $4500 on a GMT and everytime i look at it, I know, I will be thinking I wish I had spent it on an SD .. i know that about me ... an addiction to size and burliness ........

Hey, Steel ... I'm the same way you are about SS sports watches. I have an SD and also a titanium SEAL watch. To me, the SD is not only the ultimate tool watch, but its dressy enough to wear with a suit ..and, as you found out at Wal-Mart, gets some attention (sometimes unwarranted) as well. Personally, I don't think I would get two duplicate Rolex models, but I might go for another Rolex tool watch like the EXP II. With two of the same kind, one of them will sit around unused as you won't really have a reason to wear it ...at least with another tool model, you can switch them around. Of course, maybe it's the idea to have one unused in a box so that you can enjoy one for awhile and eventually have a "new" one to put some wear n' tear on ...but if that's the idea, you might want to see what new changes the SD will have and make a decision then. I'm not the expert by any means like many here are, but it's rather unfathomable to me that Rolex would change the bezel on the SD. |

Nah, get something else.
It's a bit like Steve Correll in that movie, where he had forty-two GI Joe dolls in their original packaging...
If you were to buy a second SD in order to seal in it lucite and preserve it for eternity... that MIGHT make sense to me. But, why have two of the exact same watch otherwise, other than to simply hoard them? |

1) I think SD is the most burly and toughest rolex for the $$. I like tough things. 2) There will be a price inrease so if I buy now, I just might avoid the price increase. 3) I want to spend on another rolex and the thought of knowing I could have bought the toughest but didn't, will kill me. You all have a point ... my idea to buy is to not wear it but keep it in the closet for a while and then wear it a little and put it back in the closet, since i already have a new SD and SS SUB with date. But since it is gonna spend most time in the closet, i might as well wait for the ceramic to come out and then store it in the closet because at least I will be staring at the new model! But again, I did not really like the ceramic and didn't really hated it but I am curious if they are gonna come out with the new model and what it would look like ... maybe it would laso have a tougher chain? May be it would be rated for 6000ft instead of 4000? It just might be worth the wait ... Also the dealer has to has to give a disvount on the non-ceramic bezel IF the ceramic and modified SD comes out .... so I guess I am not losing anything my waiting .... |

I can understand you're compulsion. Now that I have a White dial Daytona, I would like a black dial. Technically the same watch, but different. You are correct about losing friends. At my age, I spend way too much time at the funeral homes. As far as charity goes, IMO it begins at home. I do quite a bit through service clubs etc but I did'nt scrimp and save my whole life to give it away to strangers unless it's legit. Any of us that have more than one Rolex could have given that money away.

The GMT IIc is pretty "bulky" as well. If I'm not mistaken, it has the same sized case as the SD, just not as thick. It's not an insubstantial watch by any means. Like the others, I think it's crazy to buy a dupe of a watch you just got a few weeks ago, but it's your dough.

Come to think of it. I think is better of for you to buy another identical SD. So, you can wear one on each hand that would help to balance your brain out. Now, when you walk in to Wal-Mart you can think strait and you won't be paranoia any more when people check your two SD.

Silly idea. Here is what I do when I feel like screwing the bank.
Take the sum that you have and split it in half. Invest one half into something outside of that institution. It must be a different type of investment to get that "my money is doing something now" feeling. The other half remains in the account. I put more money into that account and when I come to another "screw the bank" moment, I have to decide: Do the split again or get what I want. Now, usually I get what I want because I say to myself that I have done the split already. Over the years I have found that my financial situation and my general satisfaction with purchases have improved because if I do not feel like wasting money since I match each purchase with an investment. |

Sorry, but I don't get the point of having TWO SD's!
I'd get an SS GMT IIc instead. Nice big watch, and you get something different:

Hey, nothing wrong with the idea. In fact, wait a couple of months and then get a THIRD SD. As they say, all good things happen in threes!!

No, JJ, The third one will set him off balance again. He will need the third and the forth at the same time. So, now, he will have one on each hand and each leg. That will perfectly balance both his brain and the body all together.

Get yourself a GMT, or a Explorer II white dial, or anything. Just please don't buy an identical 5,000 dollar watch. That's just silly, tbch.
