312 vs 359
I'm a newbie to Panerai and was wondering what the difference between the 2 watches is. They look identical to me.
Thanks for the help. |

Different dials and different case finish. 312's dial has the "6, 9, 12" and has a brushed case. 359 has the arabic dial with a polished case. Same dimensions for the case, and both watches use the same movement.

I myself would get the 351. Titanium brushed case, tobacco dial and gold hands. But if it were between the 312 and 359, I'd go 359 just because of the not so common(for panerai) Arabic dial.

I tried the 312, 351, and 359 at the same time and I went with 359. I have other vintage looking pieces and thought the 359 looked very nice and different. The dial is very different from the other ones and still very much Panerai. I was tempted by the 351 as well but decided I didn't like the Titanium. It felt too light to me.

I really like the 312 and the 359. I would go with the 359; however, it is not as purely Panerai as the 312 (which has a simpler dial).

I highly recommend the 359; it is one of those pieces that looks way better in person than in pictures. It has tremendous wrist presence. I would highly recommend seeing it in person. The 1950 case is just a tad too big for my very small wrist, but I fell in love with it and bought it anyway. It's a great complement to other Panerai in one's collection!

they're pretty different pieces. I went with a 312 myself. Would love to add a 359 at some point also.

I understand the "purity" of the 312 dial, but sandwich cut-out of 359 numerals, along with its patina lume are absolutely fascinating. Also, I got a great deal on the 359 and now the wife wears it everyday!
