Would you buy this gshock for $3,000?
I was looking for g-shocks and came across this watch. Checkout the price.
I think this will NEVER sell. What do you think a reasonable price should be for this watch? http://www.ebay.com/itm/G-SHOCK-FROG...ht_2056wt_1399 Thanks |

Thanks ... I was thinking the same... nothing digital is worth this kind of cash ...it is amazing to see the nerve of some people but like they say, there is a sucker born every minute.

Ahhhn nope. I have a nice G shock that I paid around 90.00 for. Solar powered, auto set to the atomic clock every night, great bang for the buck but 3,000.00! This guy's outta his mind if you ask me.

Read the questions posted, one buyer (supposedly) offered $1,700 but was turned down... Is this really worth $1,700? Or... was that question a plant?

Although I wouldn't pay 3K for that watch, someone will, it is a Frogman which in G Shock terms is royalty.
I have one but paid a fraction of that price.

Dave,
What exactly makes a G shock frogman worth thousands of dollars? Not bashing at all as I've said I own a G shock, just curious.

I own a 90.00 dollar G shock, not the one that is the subject of this thread. My question is the same as yours, what makes this model G shock worth thousands of dollars?

Hey, I think G-shocks are great, and I too, own one that cost (something like) 100 bucks. For that, it's an excellent watch. And to Dave, more power to you! Whatever you paid, if it makes you happy that is all that is important, we are just curious as to why it is so valuable. |

They make some in very limited numbers, these become very collectable and they hold and appreciate in price. I personally wouldn't pay that much for a Frogman but, in the scheme of things mine wasn't exactly cheap (about £350) but not what one would class as silly price. Brian, it's made of stainless steel but is very light. Just to give an idea about collect ability. This GW 5000 looks very similar to most standard G Shocks but this model is very difficult to get, so I paid more to get it.

I had no idea that there were collector G-shocks out there.... I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I just always saw them as a dependable (relatively) cheap working type watch... and they are very good watches.
Congrats to you Dave Best of luck and please show more pics of your collection. |

I believe the $3000.00 Frogman G-Shock is a very Limited Edition celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Casio G-Shock(they first came out in 1983). They are making 5 different styles to celebrate the Anniversary and they will all be Limited Editions. Of course I will never pay big bucks for a LE 30th Anniversary G-Shock but I do own two of the regular issues now. One that is about 15 years old and one I bought last year because it was a great deal at Kohl's(you know where everything is on sale all the time...my joke is go to Kohl's and try to find something that is not on sale!!!). It is a solar powered analogue dial with the other functions being digital. It resets the time daily by the Atomic Clock in Colorado and the retail was $135.00 which I bought for $80.00USD.....
Take it easy.....Leo
