Please help with my 1976 Rolex Cellini
Hi All,
This watch was given to my dad (by my grand dad) - (celebrate my birth I am told). Under the sticker on the back there is an engraving of the Rolex logo and a number (239625). I don't have much of an idea about watches or what the number means so any information would be greatly appreciated. (photo attached). |

Welcome to TRF...
Please post a pic of the back - folks can help better with those numbers on the back.

Welcome to TRF! I would suggest posting this in the Vintage Rolex section.

It looks like a basic 1600 model Rolex Cellini movement (of which I have two movements). These are good watches, mechanical movement. It's probably an 18k case with a leather strap. In good running condition they are worth anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500. That is a huge range but that is the range.

Hi,
Very nice! This could be a model reference 3833, perhaps. Here's a photo of one, taken from a Rolex Cellini catalog from 1974. Given that you say it's from 1976, this is probably fairly likely. There have been lots of Cellini models of more or less that same shape over the decades - the current equivalents are the 5115 and 5116 - with various 4xxx and 5xxx references being used through the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. But given yours is from the mid-70s, 3833 is a fairly good guess as to the model. |
