I did it
Hello,
After few messages in the forum asking if I should or I shouldn't... i did it, I sold my JLC and my Pam 372. Now I only have one of the trio that I had. Rolex DeepSea. I also have one g-shock, one pocket watch and one Longines from 1947 (btoh from my granpa) but these three I don't use it. Only the G-shock for the gym. I bought an Armida Bronze not long ago, to wear it on the country house, sea and swimming pool. Of course i will use also the DeepSea in these environments, but I know that to own only one watch can be difficult. The Armida will go out one day or another, the Rolex DeepSea will be with me forever. I still have in my mind the Rolex Explorer II in white color, but I don't know what should I do. Of course if I go for it, the Armida will go out. Best regards |

Congrats on the decision.
I'd sit on the cash until you find a "must have". Enjoy the Deepsea! |

Yes, that's my idea. So far there is no watch in the market that knocks my door, only the Explorer II but I'm not 100% sure about it. The DSSD for me is the perfect watch. I'm lucky that I'm bug enough to wear it without problems. Best regards |

Yesterday my friend and seller told me that the price for the Explorer II white after discount and using the tax free ( my wife will buy it for me ;) ) will be 6000 $. Is a good price?
I think it can be a nice couple the Rolex DeepSea and thr Explorer II white. I took these photos in my last visit to China few months ago. Still thinking if I should pull the trigger or stay calm and only keep my DSSD and Armida. Best regards |

After letting go of those two beauties, if you aren't sure, take your time and get past this first step. No need to rush.
And, yes, that ExpII price is good, real good. |

The DSSD I will not sell it. I just sold these two for few reasons, one of these reasons was to get some money for other things and another of these reasons was to reduce the collection to one or two watches. Cheers |

I also recommend not pulling the trigger until you are absolutely sure.
Maybe you could ask yourself a few hypotheticals to assist your decision making: - Are you really needing to buy another watch right now? - Is the white Explorer II something you have always desired? - Or is it something that you like most if you were forced to choose a watch immediately? You could also visit an AD to try it on again, but in doing that, one thing may lead to another! (I also think $6000 sounds like a good price). |

Whatever you decide, if you buy a used Rolex at a good discount you should be able to sell again easily without taking much of a hit

Thank you for your comment. I'll answer the questions. My idea is to stop buying watches for a really long, long time ( years ) I'm looking for the two definitive watches to keep for a long time. If I don't do it know, I will use the money I got selling the other two in other things (time to have a baby)... ;) later will be hard to spend 6000 $. I always wanted a white color Explorer. I had some Rolex 40mm and I realized that this size is quite small for me. When they announced the Explorer 42mm, I said to myself, some day you'll be mine. There is no other watch that I like more. Only a Rolex Daytona 42mm with date will make me happy ;) But truly speaking, I can be the happiest man in the world just with the DeepSea. But I think that when I'm in the country side or traveling places without sea... I prefer to wear something else. Some watch that looks nice, that will jump into the water ( the Explorer II 42mm is 100meters ) without a problem. So after thinking and checking the market, Rolex is the best for me, hard watches as rocks! Why not to have a white and black dial? The perfect duo I think. Diving all day with the DSSD and for the dinner near the sea the white dial Explorer ; ) more easy to write it than to do it, hehehe. Cheers |

Will be nice to have a small/normal wrist to wear these watches. I had some 40mm Rolex, GMT pepsi, Lv, 14060m no cosc... but sold them all. I'm 183cm, 105kg and quite big... like a Rugby player. 40mm looks small. The DeepSea is the perfect size.

I think the move by rolex to "upsize" their watches and target a younger audience is a good one - the deepsea is a perfect size for me (and the DateJust II looks perfect on my wrist as well).

Well, I'm young. I'm less than 30. I tried before as I said the LV, 14060m, GMT pepsi and Ceramic GMT... but only after try the DeepSea, i realized that this is the last watch I will ever sell. I was in love with the 14060m no cosc, but believe me... different people told me that was small for my size. I will not go bigger, 42-43mm for me is the perfect size. Looks like a 40mm in a normal wrist. My wrist is nearly 20cm. One of the reasons why I sold the 372... was a 47mm, I think this is a fashion movement and some day will finish and go back to the normal size. Regards |

I hope I'm never forced to have just one watch, but if I had to pick one, it would be the DeepSea, no question.

I have a Sub-C and a Explorer II Polar White.
I feel I can not go wrong wearing one or the other, depending on the occasion. I feel I don`t need any other watch. I am selling my two Omegas and my two Longines. |

The Deepsea and the EXPII make a really nice pair. I don't think you could go wrong with the price you are being offered. If something comes along that you "must have", you could flip it and not take much of a hit, if any.
Listening to how you talk about going for bigger sizes, you may want to look at the new SS YMII when it hits the stores. At 44mm, it should be another fine complement to the Deepsea.... |

;) So you'll keep only two? Quote:
Thank you for your comment. The price is good, yes. I always do the same, buy it, wear it and if I don't like it sell it. I don't have enough wearing the watch in the shop for 10 mins. I hope that the Explorer II will be friend of the DSSD and stay. The SS YMII is a nice watch, but the Explorer II offer me more, GMT, white dial... completely different from the DSSD. I'm always traveling, I'm from Spain but i live between two countries, Russia and China. An Explorer II will be perfect Beat regards Thanks. I hope I'll have it in one or two weeks. Best regards |
