Ball watches??
Does any one have an opinion on Ball watches in particularly the
Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon GMT Watch # DG1016A-SJ-WH Good/Bad anything??? I'm trying to narrow my search for the 5 best GMT watches. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ian |

I have a Ball, but not that one. I own a Fireman 43mm. It's tough and pretty reliable running about +8secs/day, which isn't too bad for an ETA movement but it is shockproof.
As for GMT watches, you already own the best one in the market in terms of sports watches that have a GMT function, otherwise, you might be looking at a now discontinued GMT-II Master in Coke/Pepsi/Black bezel to round off your collection |

I just bought a Ball Fireman from Jamie Howton here on TRF. I love it. Before I bought it I went down to a dealer in Maryland and looked at different Ball watches. I think if I were to spend more money for a dual time watch it would be the Trainmaster Dual Time which has a black dial and a yellow lighted second time dial and hands. The Ball watch has amazing lume, much brighter than anything Rolex has because of its Tritium gas containers on the dials, and the Fireman feels light and good on my wrist. It keeps good time, but not as accurate as my GMTII-C, but then, it's 1/6th the price, too! Take a look at that Trainmaster Dual Time....I do not like the big numbers on the GMT you are talking about, but the Trainmaster Dual Time has smaller numbers, IMHO, better looking and classic. The Trainmaster Dual Time has an MSRP of around $3200, but I think you can get a better price if you bargain. Good hunting no matter what!

Big Hat's into Ball watches. If he doesn't see this thread soon, you should shoot him a PM.
I don't know much about Ball except that it has an interesting history tied to the railroad here in the US. Those tritium tubes sure sound interesting.
