Anybody here have a 337 42mm

I've been looking at the Pam 337 42mm. I will check them out in person when I visit NYC later this month. For now just wondering if any one here has one and if so what do you think about it and I would love some wrist shots. Until now I have had rolex but want to branch out to other brands. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've owned her sister the 338 in the past. I have a small wrist and thought the 42mm would better suit me. However, I found IMO that the small size took something away from the Panerai look/experience. Good luck!

when talking the 42 rads, you have to accept that some paneristis will say they are too small and not true to the heritage/DNA of the brand. as such, re-sale might not be as strong as some other options in the line up.

to me, the 42 rads are nice for a more discrete option and for those with smaller wrists. i also really like the dial's font. regarding jackson's comment above about the size, i haven't tried the 42s on, but, i remember when i first got into panerai, i tried on the 40mm luminors and quickly realized that 40 was too small for the brand, and 44 was better (for me).

as for 337 vs 338, it's a tough call. i like the gold hand of the 338, but i think i prefer the brightness of SS.




you could also consider the new 1940s rads. same 42mm size and same in-house P.999 movement with 60 hour power reserve, but a little more presence thanks to the lugs. for me, the 512 would be perfect if it didn't have the fake patina. if you like the dirty lume, however, it's a great option.

I agree with these points and also feel that Panerai should be on the bigger side. I own mostly 39 - 42mm watches, but with Panerai it's gotta be 44 or 47 for me.

Cru Jones, thanks so much for your response, it's very helpful. I do like the look of the new 512 but would have to see it in person to decide about the dial. Is the 512 in stores or the second hand market yet?

i've heard rumors that the 512 is arriving in stores this week, actually. maybe make a couple of calls? i would imagine, however, that for the foreseeable future they are all spoken for.

Anthony Bourdain wears a 337 and I looks fine on him. I've tried the 42 on several times. I almost bought one, but unless you are using it as a dress watch, it's a bit small. I have 7" wrists and I'm looking at 45mm and 47mm rads. The short lug to lug of the rad make it easier to wear for those of us who don't have large wrists. The more I try on 44-47 mm panerai, the more I like the big ones.

I have a 338. It was my first Panerai and it still sees a lot of wrist time. I think it has just the right size to work as a work or dress watch.

Madrid Panerai boutique told me last week it will be September or October ... Not before....

Got a 338 recently, as I have small wrists. It's a great alternative to the 44s I have, very discrete, love the gold hands. If you're coming from Rolex, the 42 Rad comes close in size. However, I concede that the Panerai "big look" is lost. Give one a try if you can before purchasing.

This is exactly right. The 45mm Radiomir is the furthest compromise that a PAM can have and still be more PAM than not. Its just a fact of life unfortunately.

I traded in a 380 for a 338 recently. I wanted a Rad with in-house movement and the 338 in Titanium with gold colored hands looks great. The way it looked under spot lighting in the dealer's showcase when I first saw one drew me to it right away. i do like the discrete size and light weight feel of the 338. I have a smaller (just under 7") wrist. I have a 372 when I want to wear a big Panerai.

The 512 also appeals to me because of the vintage lume and clean dial (much like the 338). The reverse coloring of the hands (silver with vintage lime) also looks good on this watch.
