Have noticed the same on my mums iPad. Intermittent white box.

Never had the issue on my macbook, or work laptop with win XP.

Just wonder what version of flash player we are all useing on IE9 can get it to work when I click the show all content button on bottom of screen.But on chrome version 27.0.1453.116 m, or firefox it does not work in forum but can view video on Youtube. Now with IE flash player its 11.7.700.224 32 bit, but with chrome has it in-built version 11.7.700.225 and have checked it is enabled.Had a look on the net there seems to be a problem with chrome and firefox tried a few of the fixes but still the same.Myself running Win 7 ultimate 32bit windows firewall, advast free AV,and for malware malwarebyte professional with protection enabled.

Here's a list of the Flash versions that are up-to-date for the various browsers.

I'm using Firefox 22 and Flash version 11.7.700.224, which is the latest version.

I just did a system restore back to about 6/30 and, lo and behold, everything is back to normal.

I had accidentally downloaded a codec pack from a questionable site that also downloaded some crapware, which may or may not have been the cause of the malfunction.

Anyway, after doing several uninstallations of some of the suspicious programs to no avail, I decided to do the system restore.

After that I let Windows Update to run and reinstall some .NET updates that had been lost in the System Restore.

So, at least Flash is back to normal and I haven't run into any other glitches.

As noted above, my laptop exhibited the same symptom related to Flash, which is sort of odd since the laptop gets very little use anymore, except to fire it up every few days to update the antivirus software and to download the Windows updates every second Tuesday of each month.

Anyway, I did the System Restore back to about the middle of June and now everything is fine.

I didn't even have any pending Windows updates, as I did on my desktop.

I don't have any explanations for all this, but if you're having this problem, may I suggest a System Restore, if you're running Windows or whatever remedy may apply for other OSs.

I get white space when a YouTube is posted here and only here. Always have. Year old Mac, running Chrome. Flash is built into Chrome, so it should be good, I assume.

I don't know the whole story, but Steve Jobs had a real problem with Flash, because of security concerns, and made a big deal out of the fact that the iPhone wouldn't accommodate Flash.

As it turned out Adobe pulled Flash for mobile devices and now HTML5 does the work of Flash.

YouTube also worked out something make their videos compatible with the iPhone.

Windows and Flash have always worked for me and it was only a few days ago that I started getting the white box.

This seemed odd to me because if there was some rift between Microsoft and Adobe, there would have surely been some media coverage of the spat and whatever would be the result.

As for Macs, I'm not sure just how far the Jobs/Adobe quarrel went, but there may be no options for Apple users.

As for my problem, doing a System Restore with the desired result suggests that the problem was my computer.

However, since I also had the problem on my laptop, which sees very little use, that leaves some unanswered questions.

Whatever happened, it's really nice that something as easy to do as a System Restore, that is also reversible, can put everything back the way it was before the problem emerged.

System Restore has saved my butt many a time over the years and prevented my having to return the OS to factory specs and all the work that goes along with that course.
