So silly.....people complain 'cause there is no date on a Daytona yet complain 'cause there is one on a 424.........it seems people will find any rationalization to defend their preferences....
I'd take a 424 and 425 any over their limited addition cousins, the 448 and 449. Much better looking watches!!!!!! |

partly the date, partly the logo
all the other california dials are sterile, putting the modern logo is just wrong the weird thing is originally i didn't like the california dial ( i didn't like rads either) now i love the simplicity of it, the pure function of the dial i own both the 448 and 376 and even now have difficulty choosing between them the reason for the branding is to prevent copying, as the case and the dial can easily be reproduced, mind you i've never seen a homage/fake that looks as "right" as the panerai versions, they always seem so close, but missing the final impact to knock it out of the park |

Actually I like having a date. However, not smart of Panerai to have 448 in same year. Oh well, makes it the 'wanted' one.

If one can get past breaking up the Cali dial pattern, the date is pretty subtle, and, IMO, the logo is okay, too. If you like it, go for it, but I think it needs to be bought as a keeper.

I can appreciate the Cali dials, just never really wanted one. Date vs ND is a non issue for me.
I prefer the 425. |

I like it, actually. The cali dials have really grown on me. I don't mind the date at all. It looks like it goes for a decent price on the pre owned market too.

I had one but ended up selling it. I did like it though, and the date was a useful feature. And of course having the sapphire was a big plus for me
