Daytona is growing on me...

I like the Daytona as well. Wondering if it or the Yachtmaster will be my first Rolex watch. Couple of quik questions.

Do the newer ones 115520, 23 come with solid bracelet?

I noticed a few people changing the face of the SS to a Black/red face for example. Would that void warranty, and wouldn't it take away from it's original and possibly collector's condition?

Does anyone use the 11523 for daily use or would the 116520 be better? I mean since the bezel is gold would it show less wear on the SS bezel?

Is the bezel solid gold or plated and has anyone ever rubbed off the gold if it is plated?

If I wanted a new 4130 movment, solid bracelet with extend link, what would be the year I need to look for? I think it's later than November 2008?

Is the steel face an accurate representation or is it a reface?

Moved from the "Reference Library"

. All Daytona 116520's since their introduction in 2000 have come with a 4130 movement and solid links bracelets with ez-link.

. Rolex does not "gold plate" anything.. If it's gold, it's gold..

If the size is OK for you then go for the Daytona white dial or TT Panda dial.

SEL bracelets been around a while now...just go to Rolex site and look it will tell you everything you are asking here. The biggest question is just one of taste as always.Do you want to see numbers on the dial or as in the picture you have posted here 'sticks'.
I like them both however MUCH prefer 'sticks' I think the numbers make this piece far too cluttered but its a matter of taste. It is a fantastic addition to every collection...comfortable , elegant yet sporty etc etc...a true icon.
Good choice cant wait to see it.

Thanks Tools for moving this. When on the Website, looking at the Yachtmaster it read, "Bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated with raised numerals and graduations coated in 950 platinum." Not knowing, I assumed that the Entire Bezel was platinum?

911sc thanks for the pix. I'm sure it looks nice in your 911. Went for a test drive a few days ago on a 911 C2S in Mahogany....I can't get it out of my head since...

It does read on the Rolex site that all Daytona's if bezel is gold than it's all gold.

Ok Where's the best place to get one? I have been looking in the classifieds and in other areas and it seems that the SS 116520, is more expensive than the TT 16523...? I kinda like the 16523 better.

Go Daytona, awesome watch. You just need to decide White or black. I have a SS with white dial.

Fwiw the yachtmaster bezel is in fact made of solid platinum except the two tone and 18kt gold models where it is made of solid 18kt gold.

I bought this one just a few months ago. A beautiful watch, a great timepiece. In overcast lighting, the chronograph is quite legible. If it's sunny, though, the chronograph is difficult to read. I've still got pretty good eye sight, no glasses, but find the chronograph markedly harder to read then on my Omega Speedmaster Professional or Breitling Navitimer.

So, if you really want a more practical chronograph, there are better choices. But, if you want a gorgeous watch that has the chrono capability should you need it, it's a keeper.
