My 14060 was my first Rolex. I had the choice between a 14060 and a 16610, but bought the 14060 instead. A few years later, I needed the date and ended up with a 16610 also.

I like that it's a classic and less cumbersome.

I love the symmetry of the Submariner dial, and I was never a big fan of the cyclops. I also prefer no date watches in general, as I'm sufficiently OCD that I couldn't wear a watch with a date that was incorrectly set, but with a large rotation of watches, it's just one additional complication that I have to reset if the watch runs down.
The absence of the cyclops also makes it less recognizable as a Rolex to the general populace, and the absence of the date makes it truer to the original design. I like the fact that it's comparatively rarer than the Submariner Date, and that status conscious buyers tend to prefer the Submariner Date over the Submariner, because they take the viewpoint that a Rolex isn't a Rolex with the cyclops (expressed to me by more than one AD).

In the process of purchasing a Sub No Date 14060M 4 liner. I prefer the 4 liner because it appears more balanced than the 2 liner to me. But I definetly prefer the No Date to the Date, I like the clean look of the 14060M. Having the date on a watch was never a big deal for me.

The 14060M was my first Rolex. Since then,I've added a two tone SubC with serti dial, SS datejust, everose Day Date and Bruiser GMT. I still find myself going back to the 14060M. Why? If you have to ask, you don't get it.

I prefer a no date version in looks but needed a date. However having the Daytona, it forces me to concentrate on the date in the morning. I have a habit even when I know the date to look at my watch.

One of my main reasons for buying my first Rolex was to have the date. I thought I would get a Day Date until I saw those prices. Would be nice to know both, as I'm not getting any younger...

for the 14060: you can always use the pearl marker to point to the exact date using the minute markers either side of 12.
i make it a point to change the date(move the pearl) every day at 12am. If you sleep early, do it first thing you wake up. 2 clicks = one day= one minute. |

Got two no date Subs, new school and old school...just like 'em better, and I always know what day it is anyways.

I've always been crippled by my need for a date function. It was a deal breaker but I've worked through it. I decided I don't need to know the date on weekends and holiday.
So during the week I'm going to stick with my Air-King-Date but I'm saving up for a 14060m for weekends. Problem: 4 line or 2 lines? 2 is purer but my AK is not certified so I wouldn't mind having one watch that is. Threads like this one make me sigh wistfully. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is a big difference.
It's a big difference. A Submariner No Date is a watch brand Rolex
A Submariner Date is a Rolex. |

I have both, different colours. The Sub came first for me because I used to hate the Cyclops on the date model.
I love it now though! |

Originally bought the No Date and that lasted about 4 months and I flipped it for a Date. I just felt like the no date was missing what IMHO a distinguishing characteristic of the Submariner, the "Cyclopes".

Almost same story for me. Originally looked at ND SubC and when came back to purchase it, picked SubC Date! I like both, but SubC Date/Cyclope sang to me more. |

My first love was the 5513, it was only natural to move to the 14060.

Have them both in my stable ~ the Sub Date does get more wrist time, the no date more on the weekends. Both are iconic ROLEX!

I can compromise missing date for symmetry. I think the cyclops work better on datejusts.

The nodate sub just screams base model to me. Unless you're rockin an old school sub, you gotta have the date.

I think what you're trying to say is that without the cyclops it is less instantly recognizable as a Rolex to the general public, but that suits me just fine.

I am surprised no one has mentioned you can still keep track of the date on a Submariner. Just turn the bezel so the pearl is pointing to the minute mark that is the same as current date. Best of both worlds.
