Weight of the Black Bay

Just had to share this observation. As some of you know I just recently purchased a beautiful Black bay. I have worn her everyday now for the past two weeks. Anyway I thought nothing of her she felt great, looks awesome. All is good! The Black Bay is a very heavy watch for those that might be wondering how it compares to say a GMT!

Checking a few posts saw a pick of someone's new GMT Blue Black on a super jubilee half an hour ago. I must say it looked stunning with a super jubilee. Anyway I thought I would put on my GMT super jubilee.
WOW it feels like I am wearing nothing on my wrist right now. She feels light as a feather. But she is a stunner I think I will be wearing her now for awhile.

Point of the post hmmm not sure. Just thought I would write something! Hahahaha

Anyway have a great day all!

Weigh in most cases have no bearing on the quality of most things today, weight is perceived by many as better but especially watches this is not the case. The Tudor line are all fantastic watches especially there vintage homage line. And IMHO some of there watches Tudor have brought out lately put the ones Rolex have brought out to shame.Again IMHO Rolex have lost the plot with there so called sports watches now more bling than anything. Gone are the days of being used or regarded as a tool, Rolex watches today are just jewelry to some, and many today don't wear a watch they just wear a brand.

i found the bb to be light when i tried it on briefly. then again, it depends on what you're used to wearing and just took off.

I find the BB to be pretty weighty. Much more so than expected. It's not a light piece at all.

I was in the Rolex Boutique in Manhattan this week. I took off my Blackbay and tried on the new GMT blue black. It felt small in comparison. Yes the Blackbay is heavy but very comfortable.

Peter, totally agree on new Rolex models losing the sport/tool watch feel. That's why I've gone more vintage in recent years. And I wear my vintage watches doing exactly what Rolex designed them for.

The BB IMO has a positive weight for sure. I love how it feels on my wrist. I visited the Rolex Boutique here in San Francisco yesterday and the only piece I felt was the right size, weight and feel was the Explorer II 216570. The Explorer II polar will be my first Rolex 100%. All of the others, including the Daytona, seemed quite light and small and I will admit... I was a little disappointed. And I don't like big watches but I don't like small ones either. I think between 41mm and 42mm is the sweet spot. Don't kill me guys.

I've been wearing my BB since I purchased it a week go today. It does have a good weight to it, but I like it! It's really a great watch. It's also at about -12 seconds in 7 days so loosing less then 2 seconds a day.

Not bad... my gain for a week is +4 seconds. It's been very trusty so far. But the watch has been on and off my wrist over the course of the weeks. I wear it to bed mostly. And now to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. People stare at it and wonder.

Would have to agree about modern Rolex and the risk of them being seen as bling, apart from maybe the Explorer or DS. Tudor are definitely giving us an option though of a link back to the tool watch. They look pretty good, seem well put together and at a competitive price.

My Black Bay was $3425.00 USD. The quality and design well exceeds that price point without doubt. If it had an in-house movement, command ASP would be $6K+. It's an amazing value. Even with the ETA movement.

I tried on both the Black Bay with SS bracelet and leather strap. The bracelet added significantly to the overall weight of the watch. The included NATO would be even lighter than the leather, I should think.

So, if you like the Black Bay but are weight sensitive, go with the leather or NATO strap options (and the NATO comes along with either leather or bracelet, I believe).

Personally, I liked the increased heft of the bracelet. Very solid feeling.

Great looking watch, nice blend of vintage and contemporary (I hate using the term "modern") styling, at a reasonable price, given the market.
