Price guide

Is there a price guide for Rolex's? I think I finally made up my mind and would like to buy a pre-owened SS Sub date but not being a Rolex guru I am lost. I see differant model numbers and quite frankly I dont know where to begin. I see used Subs selling from 3700-7500!

If there is a not a price guide which models should I be chasing? What does NOT having the box/papers do the price?

You're asking a lot. The Sub has been made for 60 years. Do you want vintage? Modern? Date? No date? Start reading the threads here and get to know the models. Search the sales section to see what different models are selling for.

Once you have a better handle on what you want then you can start to narrow it down. The chase is half the fun

People spend weeks or even months here trying to figure out the answers to what ou are asking, especially about which model to buy. There is no price guide, but you can get an idea from chrono24 if you filter by model/location/price and whatever, to see what's being asked. Box and papers adds a small premium to the price, maybe 10 percent or a little more/less. Good luck.

Find the kind you want in a Sub date (aluminum bezel? Ceramic bezel?), how old do you want the watch to be, if possible go to a store and try them on, learn the model number of the sub you want, then look around at the classifieds here in TRF learn who are the tried and trusted sellers and you will get a feel of how much the specific models go for. The range isn't really that big when you are specific, obviously 2012 models go for much higher than those made in 1996.

keep reading , looking at pictures ,,, search your soul for what you think you want ,,, then think about what you actually want , think about what you need , decide what you like , change your mind , then change it back , decide on what it is that you cant do without , then buy your watch ,,,,, then a few more .
thats how it goes .
chrono 24 is a good filter and a fair price guide , then buy from a trusted seller here.

The Rolex website has a "May we suggest a watch?" Here they will ask you questions about what you're looking for in a watch and suggest one based on your answers. Then you can look for a watch in the classifieds here or at an authorized dealer.

If a watch does not have; box, paperwork, ect. The price will not be as high. Some models are seen as collectible and that will drive the price up. Do your research and read many of the threads on the forum. There are a lot of knowledgable people here and they are really friendly. Good luck in your search.

You'll definitely find a sub north of 75 hundred.

First you should determine what model you want.

Most common ones are: 16610 (sub date) 5513 or 14060 (no date sub). Many many more references.

Then you have the new ones, just ad a "1" to the beginning of the model number or the first and third number above.

Vintage and rare ones can be VERY expensive.
