It's been over ten years since I've been, so I can't be much help....the scenery and food and ambience is magic. Enjoy!
By all means, go on your own, but, I think a place like Zermatt is best enjoyed with friends and/or family. You can ski all day til you drop like a ski area in the western US, but you'd miss the shared experiences that make it special (the long lunches, the après ski, the dinners, etc.). |

Palm…Ive been to Zermatt to visit and take the lifts to view the Matterhorn but not to ski so I have zero input to give you where you should stay. I actually was in Italy visiting family and we took the train to Zermatt one day. Was fun and gorgeous scenery. Have you checked the usual sites? Trip Advisor.com? Sounds like you are looking for some peace and quiet on your solo trip. :-) Hope it all works out. :-)

Skiing in Europe means lining up relatively long compared to US/Canada lifts.
That's why we fly over to the Rockies |
