DSSD or TT Blue Dial Subc??

So I was at my AD tonight, they had a Scotches and Watches event, they brought in a few other brands, but they didn't catch my eye, but I did try on some Rolexes, so I have been lurking around looking at photos of what I may want next, I love the YG DDII, but that is not in the budget at all right now, I like the TT DJII, prefer the grey dial with Green Romans, they had one before but they sold it, and lately I have had the urge to get a TT Sub with a Blue Dial.

So I tried on the TT Subc and it felt great, loved it, the blue spoke to me, apparently this blue was not a favorite and did not sell as well, so Rolex has gone to the new shade of blue, which they had in a DJII and I actually like the old blue better. The AD said it was a random serial number and he said being it was a shorter run, like 5 years, his opinion it could end up being more sought after at some point.

To make this deal I would need to trade my DSSD and $4k cash, I do like my DSSD a lot, so for me to trade it I would have to love what I am getting.

I still have my white dial DJII and my black dial PAM 005, so blue would be a nice color addition.

Any opinions?

Rob, I can't comment on the money/value of the deal part…but I do love the blue dial and with your collection, you would have basically all the main colours. Now when I say that I mostly refer to the 3 I want in my collection, A white dial, a black dial and a blue dial. So up till now I have a white and black. Since both were purchased within 4 mths of each other, I won't be hunting down my blue one so soon. LOL

Its a gorgeous watch…I would say if the others say is a fair deal, go for it. :-)

Not sure how good of a deal that is. I do like the TT blue A LOT more than the DSSD.

If you wanted a compromise, you could just change the dial on your DJ2 to a blue one.

The blue is really nice! As for changing my DJII, I love the white, it speaks to me a ton, so I would never change the dial.

I think you already have your answer there? Since you love it just get it?? Personally I dont think it's worth DSSD PLUS another 4K??? maybe get another pre-owned?? or trade for 1 on 1 in a forum (with luck)??

I could probably work him down a little more on the cash, the retail on the sub is $13650, or close to that.

For reference, here is how the DSSD looks on me, the one minor drawback is the fitment on cuffed shirts, but I have the DJII for that,

But you also love your DSSD right?? personally even I dont own it myself, I think it's a pity to let the DSSD go.....maybe I am a bias (since I am no fan of PAM, DJ...) have you consider other trade option instead??

Not a big TT fan. I'd go with the DSSD if you don't mind the case thickness. It was a bit much for me.

Thanks for the opinions! I am a thinker, so I will really think it through before doing anything.

As for trading the DJII or the PAM 005, I would keep them, I love the DJII and the PAM is an H series, and they only made 1200 that year, nowadays they make 1500, so it seems to be a tough model to get.

I have both and as much as I like the TT Subc, I wouldn't do the trade. Giving up the Deepsea and $4k is too much. I would find other ways to add the blue Sub.

I wouldn't do the trade either... if anything trade your deepsea straight up for a used Sub TT. Or add another 1-2k along with the 4k that the dealer is asking for... to buy an older Sub TT.... and you would have another great watch.

I love the Deepsea but it was just too thick for me. I would go with the 116613. Looks great on you.

+1.

I do think your dealer will go there. All you can do is ask, right? 15% isn't a crazy discount for a TT. It's a relatively slow mover and (although I prefer it) it's the old blue.
DSSD's seem to walk out the door. Would be a good deal for your AD too.

4k is a deal breaker.
I'd first decide which watch you like better regardless of price. DSSD vs TT Sub.

Not a tt fan overall, but it does look nice on you. Nevertheless, to me, the DSSD is just raw and sporty...I like it better.

The blue on the sub is fantastic and it looks great on you but thats far too much cash to add. Id vote going down the trusted seller road and getting a better trade deal. Ps the dssd does look great on you and the sub is definitely dressier than that so the combo of the white dial dj2 and the dssd works quite well.
