So I sent in a less than 1yr old watch in to get regulated since it had been running slow, avg about -9sec a day. Spoke with RSC and they said they were going to do a "complementary service" due to the issue and age of watch. Now I was sending it back with the understanding it would just be regulated and pressure tested. With what RSC has now told me, should I now be expecting more? Or is the regulating what they are calling a compl. Service? What should I expect? Thanks.

Just ask...probably just a regulation and pressure test thereafter. As new as it is, I would not expect more from RSC. Could be wrong because he did state "complementary service", but I think he misspoke. Good luck...

Service, as I understand it, is they dissasemble the entire watch and replace any parts that are worn, change the oils and reassemble the piece... If they say they're going to service it, that's what I would expect...

Ask RSC what they are going to do to your watch specifically?

Service = a movement service IMO

A complimentary service is just that.. a complete disassemble and check-out of the watch movement, replacing any parts that are out of tolerance..

Some times Rolex will do this if the watchmaker sees any anomaly that a simple regulation may not correct.

They do not, usually, refinish the bracelet and case for this although they will clean it up pretty well.

If they ever offered me a "complimentary service" I would jump on it every time.. Your watch will then be "hand fitted" which is a far cry from the assembly line build they get originally..

I woulda asked when I was on the phone but I took it as what the service rep said it would be... Then thought too much into it and wasn't sure. Hopefully it Is a "hand fit" at this service.

Well myself will be highly surprised they will do a full service unless they find a fault in the movement that cannot be rectified by simple regulation.

Me too, but that IS what they said so have been curious. Wish I thought to ask while I had rep on the phone. I am not looking for nor expect polishing, really just a regulation, however if a service really is done ie take watch a part re-lube etc I will be pretty happy. Hopefully it returns to my AD with some written explanation of what was done.

Did they actually say a "full" service?

Any work done is service; not necessarily the same as a full service...

All I remember them saying was a complimentary service would be performed.

Service is a service, completely pulled apart and calibrated and lubed. That is what I would expect, a simple regulation is something different.

Service is service is service.. Complimentary just means its free of charge. Just like a complimentary room at a hotel also known as a Comp. enjoy
