Rolex Parts (Not Aftermarket)

Having my wife's 1965 Date serviced at Capetown Diamond and they just called letting me know that the watch will not be ready this week because they are waiting on a part from Rolex. I asked if he meant an aftermarket part and he said no; "they are just waiting on a part from Rolex". From some posts here I thought that Rolex was no longer selling parts inventory to non AD's.

It's possible. The watchmaker they use might have a parts account.

The watchmaker I used is not AD but he is an authorised service technician for Rolex and Omega. He definitely buys parts direct from both Rolex as he showed me the order forms he uses. What was interesting was that he had to tell Rolex the serial number of the watch he was ordering the parts for. I guess this is their attempt at controlling the authentic parts market.

Bubba, (I love that name, half of my cousins in south Georgia are named Bubba, the other half go by Junior) Have you used Capetown for service before?

No on the service. I have purchased two watches from them and another member, that I know of, has purchased one. I like them, but I take the time to drive up to Roswell (400 @ Holcomb Bridge Road) and look at the watch. They have a lot of watches and the pictures on the website are not kept up to date. They have a good return policy, but I would rather make the purchase in person.

Yeah, not uncommon. Rolex wants to be sure the parts are for the correct reference. My watchmaker has had to do the same thing--even for a bracelet.

Would like to hear the feedback regarding their service when you get your wife's watch back.

Thanks,

I phoned a friend I have this afternoon. He works in a non AD store and stated that he could not order parts from Rolex.
