The luxurious feeling that you get when wearing a Rolex is not always a positive thing if you ask me. For some clients I'd rather hide the watch than proudly show it. Does anyone recognize this?
I would like to hear your stories!
1. No, I am not embarrassed to wear my Rolex. It took me too long to be able to comfortably afford this to feel embarrassed.

2. So far I have not recgonized this, I have had my DJ II for 11 days.

I guess this issue has also to do with our own life experiences. Personally, i had to fight and overcame a lot of tough challenges to be where I am now, both professionally and personally speaking. So, I see the things that I have been able to afford in the last 4 years as great rewards, and I am proud of them.

I wear my Rolex daily and am definitely not embarrassed of doing so. It's better to enjoy your accomplishment then eye it in the box.

I'm a lawyer too, practicing in LA. And I often find that clients like seeing that I have a nice watch, nice car, nice office, etc... They compliment me all the time on things.

I think client take comfort in knowing that their attorney is successful enough to afford nice things, and therefore must be good at what he does (whether true or not). On some level it must be reassuring to know they chose an accomplished professional to handle their case.

I am 50 now and have worn a Rolex for half my life. I currently have a TT DJ with a diamond bezel. I used to earn a large amount of money but the last 10 years have not been great to me. Laid off twice, left my last job for health reasons and I am currently unemployed. I wear my Rolex everyday and many people have commented on how beautiful it is. Most don't know it's a Rolex just that it is a lovely looking watch. Others ask me what brand and I tell them. I have never felt anything but joy wearing my watch, it is one of the few constants in my life.

If you suspect that gold is not appropriate, then it probably isn't. Modesty is considered a virtue by most.

Lets all drive modest family cars then and wear beige cardigans...nop...If anyone resents your having a Rolex you worked hard for to enjoy...Its their problem.
There is too much 'Begrudgism' out there already...just sayin'

Watches are hardly noticed by most people, I used to wear two gold watches at a time when going to dinner with friends and finally one said - How come you are wearing two watches? And I said - How come you didn't notice for 2 hours, we are on dessert!

Only WIS or thieves will probably notice your watch so I don't see it as showing off or being brash at all, that's what cars can be used for.

Because of my profession, I have taken some grief about my watches. It's their problem not mine.

If you have it, flaunt it. I also proudly wear mine. Everyone else is just jealous. LOL

No....I'm a financial adviser, I visit clients at their home, I wear rolex and I drive a brand new Audi Q5. I believe they expect that sort of level from their adviser.
If they happened to be in to watches, and I had a £5 Casio on my wrist and turned up in a battered ford fiesta, I'd assume they would think I wasn't very good at my job??
Of course there's a balance...it'd be too far the other way if I turned up in a Ferrari!!

Wear it, enjoy it, be proud of it 😀

Might be a cultural thing. In my area of living it is in general regarded as offensive to show off one's success, i.e. one's ability to purchase luxury items. Especially so when meeting customers as they are probably going to believe that the reason why you are able to do so is because you overcharge them. The glass is half empty rather than half full, so to speak (sorry for the bad methaphor)

Not a big thing IMHO. There are other advantages living here... and besides, what you enjoy in private is one's own business.
