Daytona's two ultimate competitors!
Daytona costs 'almost' as a VC Oversea and an AP Oak.
The two ultimate competitors! Which one - and the only one - do YOU want to wear your entire life??? Is Daytona good enough to beat its competitors??? Here is a reviw: http://vc-ap.blogspot.com/

Interesting review!
Still, I'd prefer the Daytona. But that's just me not liking the design of neither the Audemar Piguet nor the VC Overseas. Also, the VC chrono movt. might be more beautifully finished, but IMHO the Cal. 4130 Rolex chronograph movt. is one of the best movts. ever made. The VC chrono movt. might be as good, but not better.

I'll take the Daytona any day of the week. The SS Daytona is a bargain compared to the VC Overseas and an AP Oak (chrono versions), even at grey market prices.

I'll gladly take either the AP or the DAYTONA.

If I were deciding on a purchase, I would go with the Daytona quickly. Between the AP and the VC, I would go with the latter because I like the dial and bracelet much more than the Royal Oak's. I would also rather have a VC movement, something Bo touched on a moment ago. Enjoyed the article! Wish they had lume shots. Great post!

Yeah I have to agree that the Daytona is the king, I'm not a huge daytona fan but frankly that's starting to change and I'm already starting my second Rolex fund, we'll see what happens in a few months...

I own two of them now and have owned all three
If I had to keep one it would be the VC OS.
Why: 1. Much better finishing on everything. 2. The most comfortable bracelet 3. Has a date 4. Much more exclusive and a better company to deal with. I don't get Swiss chocolates at Christmas from Rolex. Small point but they make it a point to bond with customers. Small presents like wallets, business card holders all the time. Party and auction invites even though most are too far away. 5. Easiest to read of them all. Great layout, lots of lume. Daytona is a great watch though and it is cheaper. Like the OS it has screw down pushers. I don't like that, so it's a wash between the two. AP ROO: Beautiful, especially the limited editions. Pricey. None under $18K, many approach $30K even in SS. A very thick and top heavy watch. Not a comfortable bracelet. I'd get the hornback strap next time. Pushers are waterproof without being screwed down. Easily to read in some configurations but hard in others. The Navy and Safari are among the best looking but have no lume. It does have a date. My two cents. They are all great watches and you can't go wrong with Rolex. As Bo says, the Daytona movement is highly regarded. I find the VC tio be every bit as accurate. I have posted pics of all three in earlier threads. |

Don't care for the RO, won't ever own one. Love the VC Overseas Chrono. It's a toss up. The Daytona offers a lot of bang for the buck. IMO. The VC depreciates greatly and is hard to resell.

I own an SS Daytona and love it, though I would probably take the AP ROO Chrono over it.

Without hesitation the SS Daytona. Don't care for the look of the AP ROs; don't care for the bracelet on the VC.

Daytona would be my first choice! Altough The Overseas Chrono is on my list of to-dos!

I like the Daytona. If I had to choose between the other two, I'd have to get the VC. I just dont care for the looks of the AP Oak series of watches.
I could be accused of being a "fanboy", but Rolex watches just have the right look for me. Rawhyde |

They look like they compete more with the Omega Speedy range than the Daytona.
