The story behind the ultra rare "Chris Rock" Submariner

I was watching the Louis CK episode of this season's Seinfeld web show and noticed Louis was sporting a Rolex Sub. A couple of weeks later Tina Fey was on an episode and the story behind the watch came out. Apparently there are only 5 examples of this watch known to exist, with Tina and Loius each having one.

I'll let them tell the story since they do it better than I could. You'll find it at around the 16:00 minute mark, just after the closing commercial (short white line on the time bar near the end). Once past the opening commercial you can cue it up:

Jerry can be seen with some interesting pieces during the course of the series too, though I haven't noticed a Rolex on his wrist yet (not that I've been paying that close attention).

As a "Seinfeld" fan, I recommend the episode with Jason Alexander. Unlike the others it was not an actual interview. Rather, it was is a scripted episode crafted as an homage to the TV series. Other particularly enjoyable episodes were the ones with Carl Reiner/Mel Brooks and Alec Baldwin.

A great show! Jerry has always sported Breitlings for as long as he's been on TV.

Seinfeld is a big Breitling fan and is known to wear them almost exclusively.

I remember him always having Breitling chrono on during Seinfeld episodes.

Man, I wish someone would pay me $5000, feed me really well, and give me a Rolex with that inscription! That would be a good day!

That was great, I have yet to see one of his interviews that wasn't interesting in some way. I mean he's a pretty good interviewer, it's kind of the best thing for him, he loves cars, the best scenes in his show were always in the coffee shop and he knows what buttons to push. Great combo!

Not to mention being locked in a hotel room all day with Tina Fey and Louis CK. That would be a fun day indeed!

Big Fan of Louis CK and just the other night

I saw him in Boston last year...he is so real with his humor...just the other night I was flipping through the channels and he was on, so naturally I watched him for a bit. First thing I noticed was the black sub he was wearing and I was trying to figure out how he ended up with a sub as he doesn't seem as he would in a million years fork over that much cash for watch...even if he is making great coin.

After thinking about it, <<which I probably looked catatonic while thinking about it>> which I did not disclose to my girlfriend that I was pondering this inane task of figuring out how this comedian came across his Rolex, I concluded it must have been a gift...or perhaps he just happened to stroll into a boutique and a suave salesperson persuaded him. Now we all know! Thanks for sharing. He's a simple guy that calls it how it is. His family humor is the best..haha

Yeah, he seems like a simple guy. He is a boat owner, but the Sub does seem to suit him better than a YM would.

I think in addition to Breitling, he wears a vintage Autavia. Maybe a Siffert.

I started binge watching those interviews. Fun stuff for me as I love Seinfeld, cars, coffee and comedians in general. Had the great pleasure of seeing Seinfeld from the second row this past fall. I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time.

I think I've seen Seinfeld wearing the Omega moon watch as well. A great comedian and does smart comedy.

Yeah, but I was just curious if he's ever been seen wearing a Rolex because I don't recall ever seeing him with one.
