WOW! Amazing thread, photos, watches and journey! Its just awesome to see these instruments used as intended! Rolex should have included you in their Exploration book that was released a few years ago.

Thank you for sharing and participating in this forum!

Steve my hats off to you great thread...very inspiring, it's like reading a great book in one day this thread was better than the last 3 (so called) big blockbuster movies I've seen this year. I have only been a member of the Rolex Forum for about two weeks I have learned SO MUCH about Rolex watches than I could have ever imagined from ALL OF THE MEMBERS here and I have truly enjoyed your world travels through some of your documented experiences and photos you have shared...THANKS FOR SHARING!!!

3 months, 4 watches. Now I'm complete!

...at least that is what the AD told me at the store yesterday, "If you buy this BLNR right now, you'll never need another watch the rest of your life!"

So far he is correct.

My collection isn't complete, and never will be.

That's a really good place to be in;
I think for me I am happy with the watches I have; sometimes toy with swapping one, but in reality come back to the fact it is the collection I want;
All the main rolex expedition watches; that I could get new from an AD. Those were my own set parameters really.
The Pateks evolved from an inheritance..

So am satisfied with the collection;
But what a joy to continue the quest in collecting!!

Awesome thread. Took an hour to get through it but it was a good journey. Felt like an explorer myself from my couch. :)

Well, some of my planned on travels this summer, my explorations have come to a dead end. I have an old power boat that I bought a couple of years ago. Last week I pulled up the decking and found heavy rot in the beams underneath; it looks like repairs are in order and no trips to the offshore islands on that. Well at least the Hobie has some new sails and should be better off and well used. A chance to teach my grown kids how to sail.

I envy you..
Only sailed a little bit, did do my RYA Powerboat tickets though..
We don't have children, but the idea of going sailing with your kids sounds like heaven;
And more priceless than any watch on this forum...

For 16 years while they were growing up we lived in desert country. I started sailing at age 8 so it is second nature to me. I always regretted not passing on the skill. They're both in their 20s so there is still time. it's a fairly high priority in my life. More important than power boating, FWIW.
