Rolex 14060M

I have noticed it is becoming difficult to find the sub ND 14060M full set in the Uk, especially the later random serial number ones with the blue parachom spring.

Were they not a great seller, or are they harder to source due to most people paying the extra £££s and going for the date version?

They are harder to find in full sets because they don't make them any more.

I realise that, if however you compare the with a late discontinued rolex sub date which seem plentiful then the sub ND seems quite few and far between.

I guess cos people are snapping them up then. More people can afford them than the Date, and they're better looking (IMO).

I don't think there is a huge difference in the price when you do see them, £500 roughly?

IIRC we see more Sub Dates here in US ADs vs the Sub. Buyers tell Rolex what to make by not buying one model over another. Overall and over the long haul there were fewer Subs in people's hands than the Sub Date - therefore it makes sense that you'd see fewer pre-owned Subs now available.

As for the "complete set" side of the matter, that really depends on the buyers' preference to save the boxes, papers, etc. Maybe that is tied more to a cultural aspect - like average size of a domicile may predict who discards packaging?

As of 2009, the average US house size is 201 m2 (2,164 ft2); Canadian houses average 181 m2 (1,948 ft2). However, UK house size is 76 m2 (818 ft2). So that might explain less desire to clutter the closet with boxes that aren't needed?

First just because it has a so called random serial don't necessarily mean it will have the parachrom the only way to tell is open the case Rolex have never changed anything just based on the case serials .Now both random and single letter G serials were running in the same time frame from latter part of 2010 till present time on all models. And the 14060M is not rare watch and quite a fast seller and its possible many many thousands were produced since movement change in 2000 till it was discontinued .Now some produced in lesser numbers could have a parachrom but no big deal either way. The parachrom is not something magical its just a hairspring nothing more. and if movement is correctly regulated, doubt if it would make any difference no matter the name of the hairspring while on the wrist.

An E series from 1990…It took me quite a while to find one with a nice Patina…Judging from the condition, I would say that this watch spent most of it's life sitting in the dark in someones drawer…Hence the nice Patina...

No, they were an excellent seller, which is the reason why they are hard to find new; they don't sit around very long and have been discontinued for a couple of years now.

There is no way to know if one has a parachrom hairspring or not, nor do they function any differently. A random serial number is exactly like another; Rolex never changed anything based on the serial number.

My 14060M from 2005 keeps better time than my 114060 from 2014!
