Hmmm.. Im trying to think what the play is here... Ships a different watch as he's using stock pics? Or delay the shipping until he's outside of the claim window with Paypal?
Having been victim of a scam lately, I've decided to become an expert at being scammed... |

No I haven't. I did on Breitlingsource but I'm also being very cautious as it is an on-going issue and I'm going through the motions with Paypal. I'm worried about divulging too much publicly until there is some form of resolution...paranoid?

Divulging information isn't going to sway paypal one way or another. So yes a bit paranoid.

Ok...lol...Paranoid I am... here goes nothing:
Essentially, on mine, I was the Seller: I sold a Breitling Navi World and did the transaction through Paypal. All was very smooth until apprx. 2 weeks after the transaction, the "gentlemen" files a dispute, or claim...whatever it's called, claiming "watch received not as described". etc. during the resolution dialogue, there was even a claim of it not being "original" (which IMHO was just not possible - watch came from reputable source, had all paperwork, all numbers matched) There was no other communication, email / phone. I agreed to a refund (paypal process) as long as the watch had not been damaged/tampered with...btw, Paypal had already put a hold on the funds in my account. The buyer finally ships the watch which I guess gives Paypal the trigger to refund him the money (I think he either uploads a tracking number, or it's done directly through their site). Almost a month after the initial transaction, the watch gets delivered back to me except it's not the watch I sent. It's a fake... The embarrassing part is that I didn't even notice it at first, left the watch sitting on my desk, but after a closer look, my Navi World was gone...so I'm appealing this with Paypal and call me paranoid, but their eagerness to help has diminished now that the refund process is complete.... Funny enough (or not) I also sold an IWC Portuguese almost at the same time to someone in Asia. And literally almost like a synchronized swim team, I received a claim from him stating the watch was a fake.... Luckily, this one turned out to be a paranoid buyer who posted it on forums and got nervous from the responses he got. It was finally straightened out on IWC's forum.... You probably saw me asking on this Forum "how not to get scammed".... I consider myself a well educated buyer and seller and whether I-We like it or not, dealing with a tight knit community of Trusted Sellers doesn't always work to turn over a collection...so I realistically have to venture out and trade in the "open market" which exposes me to this risk... Btw, first time I've had this happen in several years of buying selling as a hobbit....I almost thought it was going to be 2 in the same month... |

That is a well known scam and a reason to accept money wire only. None the less still terrible but at least it was only a Breitling!
On a serious note I would continue to push Paypal until you get your way. Chances are this isn't the guys 1st nor last scam. |
