First Post ; )

This is my first post here, and Ill go ahead and let everyone know I am I total novice regarding Rolex watches.

Im trying to find my wife a watch after she fell in love with one we saw a few months ago. It was a stainless and gold Datejust with Houndstooth dial.

Question is - I found a few on ebay and like this one- does it seem like a good deal?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331204452082...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Thanks!

Please post reccomendations or comments as I know very little

I'm no expert but the diamonds don't look original to the watch, nor do the roman numerals. The setting for the diamonds are not the typical Rolex setting and you can still see the lume dots below. The dial looks a bit thrown together to me.

Welcome! I'm not an expert on vintage DJs, but David (crowncollection) is our resident expert. He'll be along shortly, don't forget the time difference!

Well I really appreciate everybody's responses I'm going to start looking through the classifieds on the forums here to see if I can find a better alternative.

I have a factory houndstooth dial and it looks like the one in the pictures, including diamond settings and all. I don't know a refinisher who can replicate the houndstooth print so you should be good. Overall this watch and dial looks good to me.

thanks for positive comments guys, i could not get the results we want from ebay (cancelled ) auctions without your support.

The dial is original as is the houndstooth design, the diamonds are set in an unusual way on this particular dial with roman numeral as well. Relatively rare dial certainly authentic. Price is a bit high but not crazy if you really want that dial, just go for it they are not that common.
